Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We did not go “over” the bridge, but “under” it. We actually took a cruise ship from Osanbashi and this one passed by. The size of the boat meant that we could see right down to the bolts, which was both exhilarating and scary. The bridge itself is of certain architectural interest.

Impressive bridge that we crossed on route to our hotel, difficult to fully appreciate the structure in the dusk and with rain falling. In the area a couple of days later and a better view of the imposing bridge across the bay. 860m in length with a central span of 460m supported by the tall columns of the cable stayed structure. It's an excellent feat of engineering with two levels and a skywalk. Visible from Yamashita Park area at night when floodlit in various colours. It's probably more of interest to persons with an interest in architecture or engineering structures. Sailed under as we departed Yokohama on our cruise ship.

I cruise a lot and have transited under many bridges. But this one in Yokohama is only surpassed by the one departing Copenhagen in my estimation for excitement.

I'm sure glad the Captain knows exactly how tall the tallest point on the ship ... and the lowest point on the Bridge ... are. Because neither departing Yokohama or Copenhagen did he ever slow down or creep under them. But a disaster could occur if his calculations weren't spot on.

I was on one of the upper decks, but not the tallest one as we went under Yokohama. But a bunch of people wanted to get as far up as they could go. Scary if the Skipper's calculations were wrong.

So for those of you that have not traveled UNDER a bridge on a near 1,000 foot long ship ... I've attached some time lapse photos taken off my video cam you may enjoy.

And make sure to look at the people up on top as we were going under the bridge. Notice where THEY are looking. All at the near miss.

It's a shame I couldn't attach the audio of the ship's horn blowing. This Captain really must have enjoyed laying on it as I'm sure it blew for 10 or more seconds. I guess the Captain enjoyed going under the Yokohama Bridge as much the rest of us ......

What a bridge - it is very big and yet, if you are on a ship going under it, not big enough. It is one of those times when you hold your breath as you see the top of the ship go through with only the smallest of margins.

We got to see the bridge for a few days from different distances as we waited aboard ship in Yokohama bay for a storm to pass so that our cruise could proceed. There is a toll to cross over, but not under, the bridge.

It is dubbed as the most beautiful bridge in Japan. And it is especially at night with all the lighting

We drove across the Yokohama Bay Bridge on route to Tokyo and the drive was very comfortable and smooth. The bridge is truly majestic and provides a unique character to the city.

Every morning when we drew back the curtains from our hotel room we were greeted with a beautiful view of the Bay Bridge. When we left Yokohama on our way to Narita Airport by bus, we were delighted to travel across this iconic landmark.

Took a train from Tokyo Shinjuku / Shibuya station to Yokohama station. No change of train required. At Yokohama station, change to Minato Mirai line which will take you the way to Yokohama Chinatown. Suggest stop at minatomirai. Its a shopping centre but it is walking distance to the bayfront. This is the best location to start your tour of Yokohama. You will easily spend a day here.
