熊谷寺は、JR熊谷駅から徒歩15分くらいのところにある浄土宗の寺院です。この寺院は、熊谷直実が出家後、1205年に彼の旧居に蓮生庵として創建したと伝えれれています。その後天正年間に熊谷寺として中興されたとのことです。この寺院は残念ながら拝観はできませんでした（観光、参拝一切不可と書かれていました）。山門からの参拝です。平家物語に登場する熊谷直実ゆかりの寺院です。

平家物語にも出てくる由緒あるお寺です。一般拝観はできず中には入れませんが、外観からも塀越しからもその立派な佇まいを感じれます。

八木橋百貨店の近くにある平家物語の登場人物、熊谷直実ゆかりの寺。熊谷市自体が熊谷直実にゆかりがあるので、熊谷市の大元のような位置付けかも。
直実は出家すると蓮生法師と名乗りますが、関東に帰ってくるとここに庵を結んで、人々に教えを説き、念仏三昧の日を送ったということです。ただし、寺は基本的に非公開。外から眺めるしかありません。

門が閉まっていて中には入れなかったが、どうも見学は一切お断りらしい。ただし、塀の外から見てもかなり大きく、美しいお堂が見える。

一ノ谷の合戦で、平敦盛を討ち取った事で知られる熊谷直実ゆかりの寺。
「平家物語」で知られる直実は、魅力的な人物である。
しかし、ここは関係者以外立ち入り禁止だから、観光スポットとしての魅力はほとんどない。
境内には見事な庭があるらしいが、見れないんじゃ評価できず。

熊谷次郎直実ゆかりの寺で、昔から熊谷市内での中心的な存在にあるお寺であり、地元では比較的有名なのだが、ごく稀なチャンスを除き、原則として内部に入っての参詣は認められていないので注意が必要（地元の人間でも、檀家以外、ほとんど内部に入った経験はないのではないか）。八木橋百貨店の裏手の大きな本堂で、塀や門の外から建物を眺めることは可能だが、それで終わってしまう。

こういう掲示がありました。
「カメラの焦点合わせる前に手を合わせましょう」写真を撮るなと書いてあるのではなくて、写真を撮るより先に手を合わせろという意味だと思いますよ。お寺や神社をお参りするときの基本ですよね。

敷地も広く、お堂もすごく立派な寺院ですが、塀の外からながめるだけで、一般の拝観はできません。というか、写真も撮らないでくれといった意味の看板が掲げられていました。

源平合戦で源氏方で活躍した熊谷直実が、出家して熊谷に戻って滞在し、亡くなった寺と伝えられています。熊谷駅から歩いて15分ほど、国道17号線から少し入ったところにありました。

平家を壇ノ浦で弓矢で射った熊谷次郎直実の菩提寺です。外からも立派な庭を見ることはできますが入園できません。
