I wanted to see Japan in Autumn. The Senjogahara Plateau gave me exactly what I came for. Despite arriving about two weeks early to see the fall colors, I really enjoyed the scenery during the early stages fall. Hiking the various trails was very nice....More

Pathway to walk. Very beautiful but also cold and windy. We went in November. There are small eateries where we had warm Yasai Soba (Vegetable buckwheat noodles) before our walk.

We took the public bus from the train station and up to Yutak and hiked along the tracks down to the marshland and down to the waterfalls. The tracks along the forest were cared and well-maintained. The scenery was wonderful and hiking trip enjoyable. However,...More

We walked from Akanuma to Yudaki. I realized soon after I started to walk that this is an extraordinary walking trail. I saw really breathtaking views and a river along side of the wooden trails. Yudaki is a big fall. We climbed the stone...More

Would recommend for anyone heading to nikko. Beautiful surrounds and clear paths. Great bird life. Recommend booking somewhere that has a good host though as the bus up from nikko can take hours if you pick the incorrect time!!!

If you enjoy nature, it’s a must do if you can afford the time. We caught a bus 🚌 to stop 44 (yutaki-iriguchi) on the Yumoto Onsen route and made our way south. We started at yukaki falls, which was breathtaking. There is a wooden...More

Very nice area to walk around. You cannot get lost as it is all well described in the hiking map you get at the tourist office in Nikko. Many bus stops around.

For those who visit Nikko, I strongly recommend everyone to visit this area. You can't see any place like this in Japan - a wild and flat grassland with a beautiful landscape (mountains). You don't have to walk for the entire grassland but definitely walk...More
