There is a ropeway that is accessible by the two day pass for shuttle bus for which there is big que . I do not think which so much to see the time squandered in waiting for the ropeway is worth it and so this can be given a pass .

Amazing views of the area, the observation deck is accessed via gondola and is on the bus route up to Lake Chuzenji. Go during spring or autumn for best views.

You will ride a cable car ride to arrive at the Observation area. From here is a magnificent westerly view of Chuzenji Lake and Kegon Falls.

It was only on my 3rd attempt (on different days) before I managed to get up to the observation area. The last 2 attempts were unsuccessful as it was windy and the cable car stopped operation. However, when I was up, the sights were beautiful and it made it all worthwhile.

I stopped here because I thought it would offer beautiful vistas of the surrounding mountains. The views are decent, not as great as I had wished. I didn't take the trolley because I didn't have time but that could be worth it, and it's quite cheap, a little over 700Y I think for a return trip. Wild monkeys sometimes roam... More

We took Tobu bus and alighted at stop No. 23. The winding road up to Akechidaira is quite an experience. As it was winter, there was nothing much of viewing at the stop. However, it's worth to take the ropeway up. When you reach the top, you have a very good view of Lake Chuzenji and Kegon Falls. It's magnificent,... More

Moderately good views of the Kegon Waterfall and of Lake Chujenji on a non-sunny November day. Get off the bus from Nikko to Chuzengiko at the first stop after it finishes the 48 hairpin bends on the ascending road. This is the stop for the Akechidaira Ropeway (known as a cable-car outside Japan) to the observatory. An hour later you... More

lets you take in all of okunikko in one sight, including Kegon falls, Mount Nantai and Lake Chuzenji. but be sure to go on a clear day. great that there is a camera at the base of the ropeway, where the staff actually pointed out that the conditions of the day that we visited wasn't too good for viewing so... A 3 minute cable car ride brings you to the top of this observatory. The views are amazing during the sunset hours. You can see the waterfalls and city from here. Though the bus ride during the autumn period is "long" due to the bad traffic, so do plan your time. There is a small hiking trail as well that... More
