This is probably the most recognised photo opportunity in Nikko, however, all is not as it seems. It's actually next to a main road on one side, and also you have to pay to go over it. You should still do this though, even though...More

There's a spot in Nikko where you just look at the Shinkyo, the red bridge, and tell yourself, hey I wanna be there and walk that bridge. It is just gorgeous and beautifully set with the lush forest and the ragig river as its backdrop....More

It was a once in a life time opportunity to walk across this sacred bridge. The colour of the water below was stunning. I picked up some cute charms on the way out as a little memento.

Nic to look at as you walk past. People pay to walk across it and leave wishes. Seems to be a Japanese tradition to make donations when praying. Nice place to take a picture.

Good for a quick look, but looks like a tourist trap with one end sealed off and having to pay to go over

This bridge is stunning, but I pictured it being out I. The middle of nature. It is very close to the main road. I actually drove by it not realizing it was the bridge..

Fitting that this is one of the most beautiful bridges of significance in Japan. Start Your Visit to the Toshogu shrines from here. If you feel like it, pay the token fee to walk across it. Most visitors don't on contrary.

You can pay to go up to the bridge- but unless you are doing so for religious reason, there is no need. You can view it from the main bridge.

I think almost every tourist in the area sees this, if only from a passing bus. The bridge is quite attractive but worth visiting on foot in part due to the lovely water features underneath and the views up to the horizon. I doubt paying...More
