It's really huge. You can walk up the statue. View from the top is great. No entrance fee! Free parking at the city parking lot. Free guide (only in Japanese). It's also a power spot for the young Japanese people. Very close to Oya Temple

People usually visit it when they come to Oya Temple and the Oya Stone Museum. There are shops selling things made of oya stone. If they are open you can see oya stone workshops.

If you are visiting the nearby quarry or Utsunomiya this is a must see. I don't imagine coming here if it's out of your way but it's a lovely place.

Oya Heiwa Kannon is a big statue of Kannon, made by Oya stone. It is located nearby Oya temple, but unlike the former this site is free for entrance. It is a nice photo spot.

Very close from the Oya Temple. But compared with the carved Buddha inside the temple, this statue is recently built recently and looks not so clean. But it is free to watch and climb the stairs next to the statue.

The Heiwa Kannon-zo (Kannon Peace Statue) was interesting because it was carved into the stone. Prior to entering this area, you are mesmerized by the entrance way which looks like you are entering a mountain passage of stone. There is a staircase to the left...More

You will drop by here after visiting Oya stone Museum which is about 5 mins drive away. While the stature is certainly majestic, I find it difficult to visit this attraction just on its own. So do pair up with a visit to Oya stone...More
