Small but good

Although the permanent collection is small, the entry fee for adults is only 200 yen so the price is appropriate. Seniors, kids, etc., are less. The special show (this time... read more

This is a very classic museum with interesting exhibitions. The fact that the museum leaves a large space for the statue speaks good quality of the museum. The nice and cute coffee shop near the entrance is also a highlight. The owner has great tastes of flowers and makes good coffee. The time spent with that nice cup of coffee... More

We visited when there there was a showing of French paintings from a private collection. They were rather disappointing and not worth the 200yen entrance.

There were some nice collection of impressionist pictures. But the museum was too small. Considering the admission fee, I think a visit is merely optional

Although the permanent collection is small, the entry fee for adults is only 200 yen so the price is appropriate. Seniors, kids, etc., are less. The special show (this time French impressionists) was well presented. In front of the museum are quite a few statues which also make the visit worthwhile. As you leave the train station heading north you... More

Nice art museum, not a lot of explanation in English though. So it's is about the art itself and not the information. The regular exhibition is quite small.

From the station take the straight road towards the castle, but instead of crossing the bridge over the moat into the castle grounds turn right and follow the outside of the castle until you arrive at the gallery which is housed in a large brick building. Outside there are a small number of sculptures displayed in a large open space.... More

The beautiful part of the museum was the outdoors, with many beautiful bronze ststues all the way from the Himeji Station to the Himeji museum of arts. The inside show was no good at all. French style with no imagination.. The visit is reccomended, getting to the regular show is a waste of money (not a lot- 200 yen) and... More

A total stranger took me to this museum, and I was completely impressed by the quality of the exhibit. No one, including my new friend, spoke enough English to tell me what I was looking at. I later found out they were paintings done by a famous Edo period artist, whose name I have shamefully forgotten! Still, the art was... More
