Normally, I'd say if you want to know about a country's culture, go visit its National Museum, However in Japan, that rational doesn't work because most of the 'treasures' are still in the private hands of the temples and provide a vital source of income...More

The Nara park is full of friendly deer. The Nara Museum is in the Park and a cool break from the warm weather in May. Buy a ticket and enjoy the displays.

In my opinion, some time should be allocated to visit this museum when visiting Nara as it has a very good collection of exhibits.

good to take a look there since all scenery place in nara are around but you have to check the time table so that you can be sure the things that you want to look is available.

What an Amazing size of Buddha located in the town of Nara, 30 minutes of the pleasant walk from the train station through a very charming town if you Buddha lover highly recommend it to visit the area and the Museum next to it.

Yes . the museum is now open. The exhibits were Buddhism artifacts when we were there. Very interesting!
