滞在時間が1時間と告げると、丁度あったバスと降りるバス停を案内してくれたので、堅田の町を効率よく回ることができました。浮御堂までバスで行き、帰りは駅まで歩きました。

It is a single-story building located in front of JR Katata Station (within a 30-second walk) between the public toilets and the police box in the direction of the Heiwado supermarket (Al Plaza).
Currently, three staff members, one woman and two men, are on duty in shifts.
They can provide a map of Katata, a "Hikaru-kun map" that covers mainly Otsu city, and many other materials upon inquiry.
I have mainly received a lot of castle-related materials many times, and depending on the weather and my physical condition at the time, I walk around castles, temples, shrines, and nearby places of historical interest.
They have also looked up lesser-known places that I couldn't find the way to even if I looked it up myself, using a computer in the back.
I have stayed at a hotel with hot springs that provides a shuttle bus to Katata Station once an hour for the past few years, staying 30 to 50 nights a year (about 250 nights so far), and have been getting a lot of information here. Everyone was very kind and polite, including the female staff who have already left.
They also sell Katata specialty sweets and goods, one-day passes for the Keihan Otsu Line, and round-trip tickets for the Mount Hiei Ropeway and bus.

Katata Station Tourist Information Center is located near JR Katata Station. There are very friendly guides here. They gave me useful information and secret spots.

「歩き」ようの市内地図くださいと伝えたら、隣（琵琶湖大橋を渡った）守山市の表示まで入った地図を頂きました。その為堅田の湖畔に行くＭＡＰが大雑把に出来ています。今時スマホ活用で目的地に行くだけなら問題有りませんが、いろいろ観光地が入った観光ＭＡＰはやはり便利。もう少し考えてください。
