It was my first experience and love it immediately . For those who has not experience must go for it. When the sand was shoved on you, you feel so good cos of the weight and the warmth . Instead of 10 minutes I took 15 minutes to get up. Feels great after that . I prefer this then the... More

Fun, exciting, (oddly) soothing experience. As you are being 'buried' in the hot sand, you get a sense of what it feels like being buried alive! You are recommended for 10mins but none of the staffs will rush you out if your time is up. Sit up once you wish to get out, this part reminds me of zombies in... More

It was our first experience to be buried in the sand. I've read about the healing properties of the sand spa. My friend was skeptical about it, but realised 3 days later that the aches and pain in the joints were gone. Definitely worth a try! Even for the critics!

Really worth going to this place, having a sandbath is a great experience. If I ever in this part of the country I would do it again. You are supposed to have 10 to 15 mins but I found it a bit warm but will try harder next time to last the distance and gain the benefits of the detox!

This onsen - besides having a very nice indoor bath area - is famous throughout the prefecture for its hot sand treatment. After changing out of your clothes and into a yukata (robe), you walk down to the seaside and wait your turn to be buried in warm sand up to the neck. It's very heavy (you'll feel yourself sweating)... More

I loved this experience. It is not every day that you get buried up to the neck in naturally very hot sand! It costs about $10. You put on a cotton robe (called a Yutaka). You are naked underneath. You wonder out to the sand and get buried. You can only stay buried for 10 minutes - it is all... More

This is the famous hot sands in Ibusuki. Firstly how to get there - get the train from Kagoshima - there is a scenic train "IBUSUKI-NO-TAMATEBAKO" that travels there 3 times a day but reservations are usually required - free with the JR rail pass - check www.hyperdia.com. The other advantage is that they are express trains so make the... More
