Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed at the Richmond Hotel in the middle of Tenmonkan, and went to several restaurants in the Tenmonkan area.
It may be because I stayed there for two days on the weekend, but it seemed to be more lively at night than during the day. There were a lot of people there even after midnight on Friday night in particular.
I think it's an interesting place for people who like izakayas and bars.

I went on a family trip and it was a beautiful shopping street. However, there aren’t many places to eat other than ramen and there aren’t many souvenir shops, so it was more like a walk. I think ramen lovers are good.

Does Tenmonkan mean the area around Tenmonkan Hondori Arcade? There are mostly karaoke and pachinko parlors in the Tenmonkan Arcade, which is different from what I expected. There are many restaurants and other establishments near the arcade, which was nice. I didn't have time to go to the restaurant in Tenmonkan that you recommended, so I'd like to go next time.

Tenmonkan is a shopping arcade that is easily accessible. There are many interesting boutiques and small shops selling clothing, food items, knick knacks and local products. People are friendly and it’s worth spending time to wander through.

This place may look like the usual shopping street of Japan. However I noticed that they have small streets that branches out which contains little restaurants that may worth your hunt. Go for a walk around this place. The local team will bring you there.

It forms with small lanes, you could be easily get lost after shopping from small stores. There are few cosmetic shops and 100 yen shops at the area, which could spend you at least half a day.

Most of dining/ restaurant will be closed around 2000, only some of restaurants will be on business till mid-night. Six-white pig in Kagoshima is very famous, you should try it from the popular restaurants to avoid stepping a bomb. The price of this pork in sha-bu sha-bu dinner set is around 4500 - 6000 yen per person, but you could try a small portion version during lunch, and costs cheaper at around 3000 yen.

We visited Kogoshima a few times while cruising around Japan. Shuttle buses were provided and dropped off point is close to this shopping street. Very convenient and nice shops. Great for last minute shopping before heading back to the cruise...

The Tenmonkan area is probably one of the more interesting shopping areas in Kagoshima. There are numerous shops connected by covered glass so it's a good place to keep out of the weather.

The shops are a typical assortment of Japanese goods. I'd recommend checking out the fabric shop and the 100 yen shop (Daiso).

Also, there is a Srilankan (Indian food) restaurant which is fantastic!
