So-called Ninety-nine Islands are actually composed of 208 islands. "Ninety nine" means "many". We can enjoy the beautiful view from many angles. There are observatories on mountains and hills. Also, you can get on "Kujuuku-shima Cruising" to enjoy view from ocean cruising among islands.

This is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places to visit in Japan. A must see if in Sasebo! We took a Pirate tour and loved every moment!

Amazing view and clear water...
Jun 2019 • Couples
It’s a cluster of 280+ islands. Took the Pearl Princess around the place and it’s so breath taking to watch the islands. Kayak is also available to rent for paddling to nearby islands, some have small beaches where you can go up from your kayak. Many fisheries and pearl culture netting notes near the islands. Good place to seat back, relax and enjoy the views.

Panoramic view
Aug 2018 • Friends
This area, despite its name, actually contains 208 largely uninhabited islands. You can take in the islands from three observation towers: Tenkaiho, Ishidake, and Yumihari. Movie buffs out there might want to head to Ishidake; the observatory’s beautiful panoramic views were featured during the opening sequence of the 2003 Tom Cruise film The Last Samurai.

99 Islands
Mar 2019 • Family
Kujukushima literally means a group of 99 Islands. But, the fact is there are around 208 small islands in this area. It is located inside of Sakai National Park. Tourist can enjoy the magnificent view of this islands from the observation towers; Ishidake, Tenkaiho and Yumihari.

There are Pearl Queen & Mirai cruise/boars operators who provide the cruising/boat tour. Access from Sasebo Sta. by free shuttle bus, which takes around 20 min. Kujukushima Pearl Sea Resort by beautiful boat, travel time around 50 min @ 1400 Yen one way.

This is a fun outing. This was my first visit and was trying to experience what I could, though my time was mostly taken up with work.

Good view in a good day
Jun 2018
It was raining the day I went so there was not much I could see but I think if you go on a clear day the view can be spectacular. Ask for a day pass for the bus at Sasebo information center. It only cost 500¥. If you wanna pay cash each way will cost you 520¥. So I highly reccomend to get the bus pass. Also the bus is not very frequent and google does not help so also ask at the information about bus number and timing and plan accordingly.

The prices are fair and the tours are what you pay for. The food choices around are a little week. the Italian place there was one of my worst experiences.
