A few worthy shops but too many repeat kiosks hawing same stuff. Touristy feel drowning out authentic vibe.

This market sells the local seafood and other produce and after purchase you can take those up to the restaurants on the second floor to cook for you. We ordered a lobster, a conch, two big prawns, a nice fish costing around 11000 yen. Fairly reasonable on the price and the seafood are fresh and good. A surprisingly good experience... More

This is one of the best places, to find fresh meat and fish products, at reasonably low prices, in Okinawa. Fruits and vegetables, along with locally produced flavorings and seasonings are popular items, to be found, as well. During this visit, I wandered around, taking photos and, decided to buy some meat products to take home. Beef and pork, come... More

There are many fruits stall, local products sold here besides the shashimi, fresh seafood, Agu pork and etc.. But the price of those seafood and pork are not cheap as you still need to pay a cooking price to those restaurant to cook for you with a person charge at 500 yen with maximum of 3 dishes. We did found... More

We heard a lot of positive 'noise' about this market and it certainly exceeded expectations. The variety of seafood options was impressive - as were the prices, ie quite expensive (and cash only!). You choose your fresh seafood downstairs and have it cooked in a (very basic) restaurant of their choosing. Yes basic, but delicious. We'll be back!

Try the local seafood - sashimi style! It is refreshing and tasty, but beware it is not cheap! You buy the seafood on the ground floor, then the seller will take you upstairs to their designated diner to have your food cooked. Mind you, you can totally skip the pricey seafood and head straight up to the cooked food floors... More

Interesting shops with great varieties but nothing took our fancy. The fresh market selling meat, seafood, fruit and vegetables were the best. Upstairs you can eat the fresh produce. All under cover so no worries about the heat, wind or rain.

It's a good place to visit & eat like local. Ground floor is wet market where the seafood stalls were packed by tourist picking their favorite seafood. After choosing their seafood, tourist can get their food cooked at first floor shops & eat there. Worth a visit even if you didn't purchase anything.

Makishi Public Market is 'touristy', but it does give you a flavor of Okinawa and the friendliness of the people of Okinawa. A definite place you need to visit is the fish market nearby where your can select fresh sea food and have it prepared for you at a very reasonable price.
