Very interesting local shopping. Most shop keepers are very friendly and very welcoming. Good to find affordable gifts for friends and family

This place attracts many tourists, so do not be surprised at the number of souvenir shops. To get away from the crowds, do not be afraid to venture down some of the really small streets. You will find unique shops and restaurants. I love wondering down these streets, and now and then, I find one I have not been down... More

The Makishi market was queit boring. It had all kinds of souvenirs shops and some food stores. Was all kind of the same. The only more interesting part was the fish market. Giant lobsters and crabs still alive waiting to be bought and killed.

This market, although not very big, it is fun to visit. It is covered to good for a rainy day. Have dinner at the lovely sushi bar (I can't give the name as it was written only in Japanese) just a few stalls down from Coffee Bar Verona - which is a good place to visit if you would like... More

The actual market is not very big but the there are a lot of Street Shops surrounding it. Perfect for wet weather as all the street shops are sheltered. The entrances are small and non descript (see photo). There are food stalls on the second floor - was told we could buy fresh sashimi and eat upstairs (we did not... More

Compared to Tsujiki market this is on a smaller scale with specific varieties of fish to choose from. One can choose the fish and have it cooked at the various restaurant located on the 2nd floor of the market. Noticed depending on which your seafood was chosen it seems there is no option to choose which restaurant cooks your chosen... More

A lot of seafood. You may buy the fresh seafood downstair and ask to cook for you upstairs. They charge JPY300 person for 3 dishes. One of the stall selling fish meat mixed with squid meat is very nice, something like fish cake.

This is really a market with lots of fresh vegetables, fruits, fish, etc... However, I would advise to visit a few more stalls before settling down to pay for what you like as many stalls can be selling exactly the same items for varying prices. Besides fresh stuffs, you can also find souvenirs at bargain prices. There is also a... More
