We purchased a day pass and went from one end to the other and back just to see some of the city. Long wait between trains and a meandering route. It was much more efficient to just walk and use a taxi when needed.

The monorail of Naha is very easy and accessible by everyone. The ticket machines is also available in English. The monorail is also cheap and very fast.

The train journeys were always smooth and fast. The one / two day pass were also great as they had helped to save some money. The compartment was so clean that I could see the hard work done by the company. However, as the trains were relatively small. If you were carrying much luggage, it would be nice to avoid... More

Since you cannot count on the buses being on time because of the traffic, the monorail can pretty much get you within walking distance of any place in the city, and it is always on time.

This monorail is manly focus on the south region, and the time interval of each rail is around 10 mins. It is good if you are not going to drive. The cost of each trip is bit high in Japan, and recommend to have well planning of your destination for the selection of ticket, like single trip, 1 day pass... More

Besides being a bit crowded at some stops, the only available subway like mode of transportation is relatively affordable and convenient. It obviously beats the taxi for any location near the stops along the way. It was perfect for my hotel, the Rocore which was only a few mins by foot from Kencho-mae station. It was only 260 yen as... Very easy to use the monorail. It doesn't always go where you'd like it to, but walking isn't that difficult in this area. One example where there's walking after taking the rail are the Shurijo Castle and the Stone roadway attractions. For us, we took the rail then walked the castle. Then we walked to the stone roadway and found... More

The rail line is very useful to go around Naha and to access the airport. You have option for tourist to buy 1 (700 yen) or 2 (1200 yen) day pass with unlimited rides. It is worthwhile to go around. Good system. At time it is a bit crowded.

Every city should have a Yui rail. Was the most convenient and pleasant way to traverse Naha. And it played a lovely wee tune as you travelled!

The monorail though limited in service area does provide fast and efficient transport to the main areas of Naha. It serves the airport (at no extra cost) and if your hotel is on or near the railway it is a good option. There are elevators in every station from ground level up to concourse and then to platform, so taking... More
