Shin-Aomori station is latest with all the facilities in the Shinkansen route. Shin-Aomori is the starting point to visit Hokkaido island using Shinkansen or Ferries.

Including a Tourist Information Center in the station it was very handy for foreigners. Restaurants,souvenir shops are in plenty.Even in a bad weather the station has so much to keep the travellers happy.

During festival times, you'd think that there would be some foresight as to offer more connections between shin-aomori and aomori station, but no. Otherwise the connection between the JR and the Shinkasen are a good 5 minute walk or 2 minute sprint because you;ll probably...More

Excellent as with all Japan Rail stations. Plenty of shops, especially for food, and very well signposted. We had no problem moving from the Shinkansen to the local line to Aomori station downtown.

There's a delicious soba / udon shop reasonable priced. Shops selling Aomori souvenirs, drinks and food.

A bit convoluted to get around the station to the regular rail into Aomori, especially if you are tired, but after finding a helpful employee to ask, we managed it without too much fuss on our other excursions to and from Aomori.
