Stunning in the snow!
Dec 2019
We visited on a snowy day, it was the first time that I have ever seen so much snow, and added to the stunning scenery of the port. We explored the town, ate some nice things and bought some seafood. There is a small animate store in town, for those of you who love anime. We found it by accident, whilst searching for lunch. Would recommend seeing it in Winter, but should be lovely all year around.

If you get anywhere near the port you can't miss the fantastic architecture displayed in both the port and surrounding buildings.

New Cruise Terminal

We were on the Cunard's Queen Elizabeth when she made her maiden port of call at Aomori in May 2019. We received a warm welcome from some local high school children on arrival and they were still there hours later chatting to guests. The port has a long seaside wooden boardwalk (1.5km - takes about 15mins) which you can leisurely wander on and bypasses the Tourist Info Centre, Nebuta Museum and the A-Factory.

Great Walk

The port is not huge so a pleasant 5-mile stroll. The port center is a must as well as the ferry museum.

The town has put a lot of effort into creating a welcoming and interesting area for visitors - and it shows, The port is very walkable, well- lit and safe, and most of all, beautiful. You can see Mt. Iwaki from the iconic bridge, and most of Aomori, too. The A- shaped building at one end of the walk has an exellent tourist info area (there's another at the station) and on 13F a nice observatory. You can walk all the way to the end of the pier, where there are nice benches to observe the city and the distant mountins, or the ships coming and going. The grotty port areas are all pushed aside for this nice space.

Great for an evening walk

The port front has been well planned and built. A long walk with great views and gives you the feeling of being away from the city.

Waterfront scenery
Dec 2018 • Couples
This area is along the waterfront of Aomori port. There is a walkway that you can go along and sit and watch the water. This is not a tourist attraction per say but if you are in the area, it's a nice leisurely thing to do

Welcoming port of Aomori
Oct 2018 • Couples
Tourists come to Aomori either by ship or from land. The port there is very pretty and the area around including the park and the promenade are nice and quiet to stroll around. Highly recommend those visitors to come and walk along the waterfront prior to go to other parts of the city.

If you not board a ship there is no reason for visting the Aomori Port. In the picture provided by tripadvisor you can see the bridge and the Hakkoda-maru memorial ship. Visit the the ship! It has a seperate entry here on tripadvisor. Skip the rest.

Gorgeous!

This was a brilliant beautiful hour walk around the seashore. You can see all sorts of scenery depending on what the weather will give you. Clouds over the mountains, sunrises, sunsets, or blue skies all depend on the day and time, but it'll never be the same photo each day. Enjoy the clean air, clear seas, and romantic atmosphere.
