Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely small town well off the beaten track. But there is a local bus that runs out here. Plenty of onsen to relax in. The river and scenery is gorgeous. there's only a handful of restaurants that open sporadically and a small convenience store though.

Lovely little 'local' style town, not many tourists at all, so there is time to walk and photograph everything, sit in the foot baths for a little soak, walk through the forest up to the suspension bridge and then grab a bite to eat at a local restaurant.

This is a sweet little town just 30mins out of Fukushima-shi by bus. We stayed at the recently opened Yumori Onsen Hostel (great value, incredibly comfortable and super friendly) for three days in December. It snowed while we were there, which was magical, the river that runs through the heart of the town is beautiful. There are some nice walks to waterfalls in the area, and although there aren't a lot of restaurants in the town, the few that are there are really good - we particularly liked Miraku, a ramen shop that also serves Fukushima Gyoza (dumplings served in a circle) and Curry Gyoza (I've never heard of these elsewhere). The Lotus cafe is only open weekends but the lunch sets are great value and delicious (vegetarian curry with real basmati rice!). This town doesn't have a convenience store or many amenities, but it's a wonderful, relaxing place to stay for a few days, with a whole bunch of onsen to choose from to enjoy the local waters.

I went to Tsuchiyu Onsen. You can see the whole of Ashiyu Onsen from the observation deck. There is the Arakawa River, with hot spring inns on both sides of it. There are also stylish cafes and restaurants. It's fun to walk around and see places like Prince Shotoku Hall and the waterfront park. There are also several foot baths. I think it's good for soothing tired feet. There are also poems read by Empress Masako. It's not very large, but it's the kind of place where you can make various discoveries if you walk slowly. It's the kind of place where you can take it easy, and I like it.

This hot spring is about 40 minutes by bus from Fukushima Station. I took a bath in the public bath and used the drop-in bath at the Fukuusagi Inn. The hot spring was high and the hot spring water was fluffy, making it a very pleasant experience. It is also famous for its Tsuchiyu Kokeshi dolls.
