Me and my girlfriend got refused to ALL onsens because of our ( small ) tatoos. Receptionnist at one hotel told us the all the hotels in this area chosed a non-tatoo policy, even for foreign guest. Meaning, they don't want to be open to foreign guests , so you shouldn't bother to go there. Other places are more friendly... More

Close in, technically Sendai, good water. Used the public bath for 300 yen, very local style. Also stayed in a bigger hotel with good views.

The changing facilities (locker rooms) were nice as well as the places to rinse/wash. These facilities provided us with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toner, etc. Not very private,... More

Akiu Onsen was not in my itinerary. I just wanted to book an onsen package and the Travel Office at Sendai Station suggested this to me. The package includes everything: transportation (bus to and from station to hotel), the hotel with very nice onsen experience, delicious meals (dinner, breakfast and lunch), beautiful garden to walk and enjoy autumn colors. I... More
