This street is for pedestrians only. It’s about 1 km where you can walk, run, sit or find any nearby shops, restaurant, cafe or do whatever you want. Many people like to visit this place. You can listen to a music from the shops or some locals.

Arbat Street is mainly pedestrianised, aside from the odd bicycle or motorised scooter. Irrespective of the time of day, it has a wonderful vibe and frequented by all different age groups. During the day there were some nice craft stalls and ice cream stalls, and cafes and restaurants spilling onto the pavements. There are also nice sculptures which are great for photographs. On an evening the area is lit up. There are many buskers who are singing or playing instruments, all of which are lovely to listen to. The restaurants are also nicely lit up and many people were still dining outside while I was there. This is a must see on your visit to Almaty. It doesn’t take long to walk around this area and it is very central for many other attractions

We enjoyed a visit to Arbat in the evening, a busy street full of shops, bars and restaurants. Probably the liveliest part of Almaty, at least from what we saw. It has a great atmosphere with street performers, locals and tourists, at least it did on our summer evenings!

A portion of Zhibek Zholy Street in Almaty is pedestrianised and referred to as Arbat, after the street in Moscow. It forms a centre for strolling, eating, shopping, and entertainment, and especially evening activities. It is often lively, primarily in the evening, and there are not only many eateries and shops, but also street vendors, fountains, and more. It is fairly attractive and has some nice buildings along it. It lacks the architecture or the number and variety of vendors and activities of similar but more grand streets which we have explored in other cities, but still is nice, worth a visit, and offers a number of places to eat and shop.
