Great cathedral

The cathedral is totally made of wood. Free entrance. The cathedral is a little small, but very charming. The interior is classical for Roman Catholic cathedrals. No seats!

Beautiful, colourful cathedral, worth visiting. Nice change from the mostly Sovjet style architecture in Almaty. Short walk through the park, close to the market.

Set in the Park of 28 Panilov Heroes, you walk till you see the cathedral above the trees. We visited in winter and Snow White everywhere. Entrance is free to the Cathedral but no photography allowed. Said my prayers and walked around admiring the lovely paintings.

Feel the Russian side of Almaty. The cathedral is one of well preserved historical monuments in the city. If you had time and did not visit you may regret it

A very well maintained Orthodox Cathedral in a predominantly Muslim country. Very different. The park around would be good in summer and was covered in snow as we went in winter. Feed the pigeons - you can buy the feed there itself.

The service in the late afternoon was beautiful with a small choir tucked away behind the screen/scenes.

With chanting insence and rotating priests, beeswax candles, and a harmonious choir. Quite a feast for the senses.

This place is very important for all Orthodox Christians in Kazakhstan. Created for religious purposes, as the Church, in Soviet times it was the Museum of History, after Independence the Cathedral was a return to the Orthodox Christian Church.
