A.must see location when in the Malindi/Watamu area. Go early morning as it gets fiercely hot as the day progresses. (the clue is in the name) get some great photos. Book a local guide for a half day trip, the tour operators charges are exhorbitant.

A small canyon near Malindi in Kenya not as impressive as other canyons I have visited and only worth a visit if you are in the area as the road is difficult and you might be accompanied by small children pestering you for money.

Getting there is an experience in itself but the depressions are stunning. Exploring the bottom of the gorge with a local guide, just magnificant.

This is Kenya's equivalent of the Grand Canyon. It is spectacular. It is known locally as Nyari, a Kigiriama word which means the place broken by itself. Getting there is easy and there is convenient public transport from Malindi. The smaller Nissan matatus are better...More

It was 100 bob when I last visited. They tried to tell me it was 500bob but then I discovered that the extra cash is for a guide. You have to be careful about that.
