Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There are 3 waterfalls in Kota Tinggi. When you drive into Kota Tinggi town and cross the bridge over the Johore River, road signage will point you to Air Terjun, commonly known as Kota Tinggi Waterfall. This is the waterfall usually accessed by the public. It is developed, has a small resort with chalets and public shower/toilet facilities, car park, etc. A fee is charged for access. It is usually crowded over weekends and public holidays.
Lesser know is the Pelepah and Tengkil waterfall. These two are off the beaten path and only for the hiking enthusiasts who are willing to brave an hour+ of trail walking. You may find yourself completely alone with nothing but the sight and sounds of the jungle for entertainment and the opportunity for a cool dip in a quiet pool on weekdays. There will be plenty of opportunities for the photography enthusiast to catch sight of birds and butterflies. Wild boar tracks are everywhere but count yourself very lucky if you do catch sight of one. While Pelepah is an easy hike with clear trail and is accessible by car, 4WD vehicle is preferred for Tengkil which trail is poorly marked. Both trails require stream crossing.
Gps track, waypoints and map are available free on request for use at your own risk.

I must say that I felt cheated when I arrived at this attraction. I had done my research and read good reviews of it. But when I arrived there I was shocked! The waterfall is a small one that looks quite pretty but nothing more... If you have travelled through any mountain terrain anywhere in the world then you've seen better, bigger and grander waterfalls. The road leading from the carpark to the waterfall has a small canal of stagnant, moss covered, dirty green water flowing along side. It's the same water that flows down from the waterfall and just sits in the channel, breeding mosquitoes.
There are just one set of very very dirty toilets near the carpark. I just about managed to use the ladies and rushed out, it was so disgusting! Can't imagine changing in there... Perhaps that's why most people changed at the carpark. Most of ladies at the waterfall were fully clothed. It was a weekend so it was really crowded. The slides are really slippery and you land into waist deep water. However, you need to be really careful, since there are no stairs or proper planks leading down to the pool. You have to just slide off the rocks and the rocks are extremely slippery and treacherous. It can be quite dangerous if you have very young children or elderly folks with you. The food options are really limited with only a couple of open stalls offering local food.
Also, the water depth varies and there is no way to gauge that since there are no depth measurement indicators and the water is terribly murky, dirty and opaque green. There are also sharp rocks so be very careful while wading in the water. I will definitely NOT reccomend this to anyone!

Why is this an attraction? Why do people come here? What is this even? LOL
Got there with the fam (10pax) and paid entrance fees RM15/pax. Literally from the walkway in to the top of the falls were packed with people. There was rubbish everywhere, kids pissing in the water. Families who hogged toilets and brought "picnics" - generator included. There are two big flat water slides piled with screaming children running all over the place. What a mess.
We walked in, walked up the stairs of the falls. View and crowd was no different at the top. And then waked out again. I think in and out 20 minutes tops. Luckily gas is cheap in Malaysia.

This attraction can be described in two parts, the first is what you see when first entering and that is a very odd mini-waterpark. This has one small waterslide and a waterway to float down. Old and outdated are the best words to describe it.
The second part is after walking through the waterpark and that is the climb to the lower part and then the upper part of the falls. This is pretty nice to see with stone steps carved into the slope. A few people were enjoying the water and swimming the day I was there. Overall the falls were just ok, not that big really when compared to ones in other tropical destinations.
Not sure how you would get here without a car. There was a large car park in front and you had to pay admission to get in.

As a non malaysian, I paid 15RM to enter.
Totally disappointed with the surrounding especially the bathrooms. Three bathrooms were choked and dirty.
Two toilets door were broken. And the most shocking thing there's no lighting at all. Had to shower in the dimmed toilets with dirty floors. Yucks!
Just give this place a miss.

Drove all the way to the foot of the resort. The carpark was empty with a lot of monkeys roaming around. The boom gates were down and closed for maintenance.

There is mud in the bathroom like forever and the sink is poorly dirty also like they never clean it. They said now is the new management. Management should have 1 cleaner standby.
