Very touristy and busy on the day we visited. Lots of little shops selling souvenirs, drinks, ice creams etc Worth a stroll down and back, although I found the other jetty’s more far more peaceful and interesting.

Watched sunset with my German visitor from Bonn. Magnificent experience as we were able to see far beyond the horizon - Penang bridge in the background and ferry docking at the jetty and seagulls flying above us. We were also able to see the old...More

Chew Jetty provides a good look at some living history of Penang. There are set visiting hours (9 - 21H) and tread lightly & respectfully as there are still residences along the piers. Boat tours are available, approx 10 minutes, once you reach the end...More

I wonder how people live here. I don't think it is hygienic. Just look behind the houses. Do they have sewage system there? But definitely the souvenirs were cheaper.

Mostly shops and tourists. Not much to see really. There are a couple of restaurants. There are a couple of houses they way they used to be.

This was interesting as it was unusal with some 73 homes perched over the water and linked by elevated walkways. It is the most significant of a number of clan jetties where people live today. Enjoy a stroll through the walkways and get a close up...More

The Chew Jetty area has been sadly over commercialised and has lost any historic appeal it obviously once had. 15 mins is all you need to wander through the jetty. It’s hot and crowded and full of crappy tourist souvenirs.

We walked to this place to check it out but it was a big disappointment. The bad smell that many reviewers alluded to was very real so we didn't spend much time there. It was very commercialized. Not really worth visiting.

No entrance fee. There’s probably a fee for the boat ride but don’t know how much.
