Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We hired a driver right outside of the cruise terminal. This was one of the stops after visiting a few temples. The staff was very helpful and we enjoyed the many samples that helped decide which souvenir coffee to purchase as gifts. The prices to me was reasonable and being we were on a cruise with limited time in port we were not at liberty to shop for the best deals for good coffee. The coffee and juice packets we purchased were enjoyed and praised by those that we gifted them too.

Visited on a weekday and we happened to be the only customers at that time. Salesgirls a little reluctant to let me sample the coffees, and only when I requested did they poured out a sample of the flavors I wanted to try.
While the coffee flavors are unusual and varied, I felt the products weren't worth the prices - a bag of their coffee (38g X 15 sachets) was going for RM38, which is twice to almost 3 times the price I pay for 3-in-1 coffees in the local supermarkets. Still, I bought a few packets to try (and to give away as gifts)
The coffee samples I had tasted in the shop were rich and creamy, but the coffee sachets I bought of the same flavors tasted pretty thin when I made it at home, which leads me to suspect that they added more milk to their sampling flasks. So I added more cream (milk was too thin) and voila! I got close to the same rich flavors.
I also bought the hot chocolate mint, which surprisingly tasted very good - the mint gave a refreshing taste to an otherwise cloying drink. Again, milk has to be added (not cream, it would have made the drink too thick) to give that similar flavor I tasted in the shop.
Buy only if you're a 3-in-1 coffee aficionado, otherwise a packet of relatively good 3-in-1s can be bought for between RM10 - RM15 for the 15 sachets, in supermarkets.

I have had no troubles in bringing the coffee back to Australia and even POSTED it back home to Australia also, what you need to do when you buy it is to ask Coffee Tree to give you a Australian Customs certificate they will give you one if you ask, If you have been caught out trying to bring this back quite simply you should simply ask when you buy things IF you can bring them back to Australia and not just assume that you can. It is up to you to get the things for customs and a simple can you give me a certificate for customs request would not cause problems in bringing it back

Heard from grab driver on the way to hotel on day 1, then we dropped by a shop nearby on day 2, just because of curiosity. Bought few packs, but then realised price is just crazy, 2 times price of oldtown coffee even compared with SG local price. I would say it is just for the 1st time tourist and never expect for revisiting.

We were taken here by our driver, not knowing at the time that this is how the tourist industry is is shared among transporters (drivers) and businesses. Despite that fact, the flavour of the coconut coffee mix is decadent. We only bought 2 bags, question of weight for the plane AND Penang was our first stop among many to come, but honestly wished we had bought more. Have offered cups of it to friends back home and now they are in search of getting some for themselves. Everybody loves the taste.

This came highly rated by our driver. It was rated as a 'must'. First place we visited before we got to the hotel. When we reached the place, I noted that it looked like a touristy place. We were served with lots of samples of free coffee and tea and honey.
But here is the pricing:
Coffee Rm 38 per packet
Tea Rm 35 per box
I'm a coffee person and I love coffee but this is just an overrated and concentrated version of white coffee and sugar and tea..Having travelled quite a fair bit within Asia, I must say this is not a must.
Premium coffee pricing but not quite justified.

I tried all sorts of coffee here but my favourite was the Durian. Very tasty. Trying to order some on line because I am nearly out of the packet I brought back with me, but cannot get onto the website for some reason!!!!!!!

We bought packets of coffee after being advised it was ok to bring back to Australia. When we came through customs and declared it it was taken from us as it had milk product in the packet. As Malaysia has foot and mouth disease it was not allowed.Be careful when buying here as it was a costly lesson for me.Barrie Clarke

Now we see why the cab driver wanted to take us there for free almost. The cab drivers get a cut of what you spend there. We bought a suitcase full that cost us almost 1000 RM. after different places we go have coffee tree coffee for 3-4 times less. We feel ripped of and they do not offer cheaper variations in the outlet. You can also not get a full coffee there :(

However, we are sad to inform that at present, we can only manage to send our products to Asian countries, Australia and the Middle East.

Hi Mireia,
Thank you for visiting our outlet. We would like you to know that we have many ranges of coffee in the market, all manufactured by our factory. We have the Black packet, which is the premium and are sold only in our outlet. We have the White packet, which is the
different grade of coffee bean, and the White packet is only sold in our cafe outlet. And then we have the Red packet, and again, of a different range of beans, and they are sold in certain selected supermarkets. The yellow packet that you have bought is the most commonly sold, and they are for the supermarket range, only sold at RM11.90 per packet.
We are sorry that you are confused about the prices, but as the major manufacturer of Penang White Coffee, we try our best to cater to all.
Thank you.
Regards,
David Theo
