This cooking class is an absolute must-do for foodies wanting to have an amazing experience and learn more about Nyonya cooking in the food capital of Penang. Pearly & her lovely husband Chandra have created a wonderful and truly memorable experience which my boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed. The first people to book the class on the day you are... Pearly and Chandra were the most warm and welcoming hosts. The morning started with market visits, food tasting and a drive through the city. We cooked up a storm in the wonderful and very clean facilities at Pearly's residence, with lots of hard work and laughing the entire time. A very intimate setting for us all to learn in and... We joined Pearly's cooking class today and really enjoyed it. I'm not a great cook, but the recipes we made we really easy to follow and absolutely delicious! Pearly picked us up from the apartment we are staying in at 9.00h and we went straight to the market, where she showed us lots of the amazing products that are for... More

Thank you Pearly for teaching us so much about the preparation and cooking of local food. The market trip with your knowledge of the herbs and spices was also so interesting. You have incredible patience and enthusiasm particularly with amateur cooks. We loved Penang and mostly due to yours and Chandra's hospitality. A very special time! Hi Peter and Heather, My most memorable class of the year. You guys were so enthusiastic! I love Peter and Eddie teasing each other. How times grows for them, best of friends since childhood and bringing their wives on holiday, cooking with me. I am glad we had dinner before you left Penang. More

we've had a wonderful morning beginning with a stroll through the wet market where Pearly explained interesting things about the various types of ingredients. After that, we learned a great deal about how to first make the curry paste and use the homemade paste to create the curry dishes. We found it very enlightening and are already looking forward to... I was given a lesson for Christmas from my mum and went along with my brother and his girlfriend. There were eight of us in total, which was a perfect number. The day started off by being collected by the charming Pearly and going around the 'wet' markets learning lots about the local fruits, vegs and meat/seafood. She certainly knows... More

To experience a city or a town, you must go to its market and taste it. Pearly and Chandra took us to a traditional market in George Town and we enjoyed it. There were many cool things we've never seen. Later we went to Pearly's home and started to cook the cuisine we chose. Pearly taught us step... More

Penang is a foodie destination and many travel to the island to experience the local food culture and all the other cuisines that are present around here. But it is by participating in a cooking class, that one can take the foodie experience to the next level. There's nowhere else in the world where you'll get to experience Nyonya food..... More

My husband and I take cooking classes everywhere we travel, and this was one of the best we've done. The food was excellent--we made kapitan curry with chicken, pineapple and eggplant sweet curry (SO tasty), and miso fried fish. The market tour before the cooking was very informative, and we tried several local snacks and fruit varieties. Pearly and her... More
