Kapitan Keling Mosque is the oldest Mosque in Georgetown. I visited on a beautiful blue day, so the stunning architecture was really highlighted. I will return for an internal tour when more appropriately dressed.
A beautiful example of Islamic architecture contrasting with the polymorphy of places of worship that make Penang such a harmonic meeting of cultures. Parts of the mosque are reminiscent of the Alhambra palace. But it’s beauty also comes from it’s simplicity and balance.
This beautiful mosque is a must visit, as it is really beautiful and old. Before you head over be sure to wear decent clothes and act respectfully. For more info about Malaysia check the WNFdiary blog.
There are plenty of amazing mosques in Penang but this mosque really stood out due to its beautiful architecture. There is prayer space for both males and females. However worth noting Jumu'ah (Friday Prayer) alternates between this mosque and another one within 5mins walking distance).
