    Nice escape for 3 days
Restaurant was very good, service was great (especially the 3 musicians at night, they were fantastic). Snorkelling was ok, there's a lot of fish, easy for kids. Getting to and from the island is quick, from the Sutera Harbour, easy to find the pickup point inside the Marina. I think there needs to be more education / signs maybe on the jetty, especially for the boatloads of day-trippers who come every day to the island. We witnessed a family throwing plastic rubbish into the water, when we asked them why they would do something like that, they couldn't understand why we were so annoyed, they explained 'it's food for the fish!' - unbelievable.

Could Be A Winner On A Great Day
Part of a tour took us to this island for snorkeling. On a nice sunny day its a lovely place to spend a few hours but we arrived to purple flags which means some threat in the water and I got zapped a few times, not sure if it was sea lice? I didn't snorkel just swam a little and spent the rest of the morning on the shore as did most of our tour. There is a walk into the jungle interior but it was blocked part way up. There are also a couple of restaurants.

    Nice day trip
Cleaner and nicer than the mainland of Kota Kinabalu. It does see a lot of day trip traffic, and there was still some garbage, but the sand was white and the water was blue and pretty. Cheap day trip and I enjoyed it.

    The best of these islands
Yes it's the best of these islands. Great place to swim and spectacular snorkeling especially toward the end of the walkway. Fun large lizard encounters here too. We went with 3 boat companies and recommend beach bum Borneo as friendliest and most responsible.

Island hopping and water sport package by Long Beach (Manukan & Mamutik island)
Tried snorkelling & seawalking under operator named Long Beach. I recommend this operator as they are more organized, well priced, departs early, and I like their striking bright red life jackets. Got few packages, I took the one with 2 islands hopping (Manukan & Mamutik), snorkelling and sea walking (including go pro photos and videos rental). Can find other packages to (other water sport: Banana boat & Parasailing). Can find more booking info from internet (I use direct Whatsapp to book). Easy to deal with.

    Worth a visit
This was the first of the islands around Kota Kinabalu we visited. The facilities on the island are basic but it is a pleasant place to spend time. The snorkelling was enjoyable in that there were plenty of fish to see, including small sting rays. However, the coral has been badly affected by tourism and pollution so that was disappointing.

Accommodation and restaurant facilities were ok but could be upgraded to a better standard. The Island itself was very scenic but was rather disappointed to find that there were rather a lot of rubbish left behind by day visitors. Did not swim due to plastic bottles and other items floating near to beach side. Waters were teaming with fish but a lot needs to be done to clean up rubbish in order to attract Eco tourists. Also, people need to be warned about sandflies!!!! My friend got bitten by them which left red bite marks that lasted for days and had to have antibiotics. Warning signs would be advisable in order to take precautions.

island of Trash

Manukan island is devoid of corals and fishes, it has been replaced with piles of trash on the beaches, sea along the beaches and far out where trash are everywhere, from Jesselton Point, all the way to the islands in the the marine park.
Wonder if Sabah Park, tourism minister and dbkk still have any sensation of shame. Quit or close down these incompetant gov. agencies and replace them with organisations that are committed in making Sabah, esp Kota Kinabalu a vibrant place for tourism, attract foreign investments, etc beneficial to the Sabahan / Malaysians.

Did a day trip to swim and snorkel.it was amazing, lots of fish, even a black tip reef shark. Sad to see the coral dying that was disappointing but overall an enjoyable experience.

Avoid using sunny rainbow services when going to Manukan. We agreed on being picked up at 3 p.m. for the return from the island.
They never showed up although I called them. We had to take a boat from another company to get back to K.K.
A bitter end to a nice day on the island

We chose 2 islands. The first was Manukan Island. The second was Sapi Island. Extremely disappointed to see how dirty Manukan Island was. The water was filled with rubbish such as plastics, used diapers, empty rice bags, and many many other junks. We even paid conservative fee and expected it to be at least decent enough to have a swim. Sapi Island, smaller Island but much cleaner. Our boat journey back to the jetty was heartbreaking as every 20secs you see rubbish floating in the sea.

Did a day trip to snorkel with a small group of others from our tour
The island is stunning, lovely soft white sand, clear water and lots of fish to see.
We had lunch at one of the restaurants which was really good We even enjoyed the sweetcorn flavour ice-cream we were given
Beware of the sun it is very hot, easy to misjudge and get sun burnt, boat transfers there and back were good fun in the speed boats
