Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Gorgeous blue sea, even though we are near the shore, left us totally captivated by the sea view upon reaching the island. When snorkeling, you can observe the fish beneath the water. Although the island is not very large, we thoroughly enjoyed our walk around it. It was my first time going island hopping and I regretted not bringing proper swimming shoes because the seabed was sharp due to coral reefs. I recommend wearing boots or swimming shoes when snorkeling.

During our visit, the wind was blowing strongly. I suppose it must have been the December season.

What a disappointment! There is nothing I can really recommend about our trip to the island. The boat transfer was relatively expensive. The small island was utterly overrun with thousands of tourists. The snorkelling area is pitifully small and the reefs are in terrible shape-not least because most of the thousands of people snorkelling can barely swim, let alone snorkel. The facilities are generally pretty shabby. If you are looking for decent snorkelling and a beautiful, peaceful beach experience- try somewhere else. I suppose the only positive is that the jetty is somewhat photogenic.

Such a great island to explore and swim at. My mother and daughter did the parasailing from here and really enjoyed it. They are 65 and 7 so anyone can enjoy it. The island has more ammenities then we expected and is a good place to spend the day.

We only visited Mamutik and Manukan islands, but Mamutik was by far the more interesting.
I saw beautiful fish, a sting ray and a reef shark while snorkeling.

…which will tick every box I can think of for SE Asian seclusion (even on an island so small there were deserted bits) and beauty. The beach and water were really clean too.

I went on a self-arranged island-hopping tour from Jesselton ferry terminal with Manukau island on my itinerary. The ferries arrive and depart every hour so it’s best to spend 2 hours on this island if you want to trek the island and take a dip in the water. You must pay an additional RM25 for each island you visit.
The last ferry returning to KK is 16:00 so if you want to visit other islands along with Mamutik, go early!

If it’s raining you won’t be able to go; they still sell you a ticket but you will wait all day at the jetty!

Recommend bringing toilet paper, and snorkeling is ok. Women are fully covered, even its 31 above, and there are only a few picnic tables across the entire beach.

This is more like it, amazing little Island. They have roped off areas where careless tourists cannot go hence the coral and fish life is better for off the beach snorkelling. Not as many people as the bigger island and cleaner water.
