Not a cheap place to enter at 20MYR for a relatively small museum but it's highly recommended. Exhibits are interesting and well maintained. The family describes their rule amusingly as "enlightened nepotism. The grounds are peaceful and also offer great views. Some of the Brookes...More

The building itself is absolutely forgettable, but the museum inside could be interesting (see my separate review there). The walk to the fort, on the other hand, is interesting, walking among private homes is interesting.

Once across the river there is a short walk to locate the fort. It has been well maintained and repays a closer inspection. You do need to visit the museum to understand the significance of the location and to check out the views.

Fort Margherita isn't a very large area to cover. The interior has been converted into a museum (for a small fee), and it's been very well maintained. This place is rich in history, and tells you everything you need to know about the colonisation of...More

Fantastic museum. The very unique and interesting history of Sarawak, with a large focus on James Brooke (the "White Raja") and his descendants, is well presented and explained. The fort is well kept and and great sight, but the real interest lies inside with the...More

You can go there by crossing the river or by land. This is where history repeat itself in a kind of visual and story. You get to experience to be in the fort and learn of the Sarawak history during British colonization.

Thunder B, I have only taken pictures from inside the building and rooftop. Esca is a Brooke too, son of Charles Brooke. There is quite a bit of history brought together in this museum. cheers Henry
