About
Situated at 18 1/2 Miles (29KM) Kuching Serian Highway, a 30 minutes leisure drive from Kuching, the capital of Sarawak, Land of Hornbills, Jong's crocodile farm & zoo is the first & largest captive breeding crocodile farm in Malaysia. Set amidst the charming backdrop of tall tropical trees, lush vegetation and local fruit trees, lie this unique farm with over two thousand crocodiles bred in captivity. The farm provides a perfect sanctuary for the reptiles, saving the species from extinction. There are few natural breeding ponds for the crocodiles to mate and multiple. Visitors are able to gaze at the snapping jaws, cold menacing eyes, sharp pointed teeth and powerful lashing tails of the crocs within short distance yet safe because of the metal fence. Apart from crocodiles, there are also numerous rare species of birds and animals (for example- monkeys, peacocks, sunbears, bearcats, pheasants, civets, deers, owl, eagle, fish and phyton) found only in the Borneo Island.

We ended up going in between visits to semenggoh after a recommendation not realising what we had signed up for. The cages of the smaller crocodiles in particular were really over crowded. The feeding was a teasing game to make the crocodiles jump for the food. I wouldn’t recommend visiting if you are an animal lover as it will really break your heart to see the animals living there. The staff were helpful and friendly which was the only good part of the visit.

Feeding is unexciting. Same ol same ol.
Aripaima feeding is worse. Slim chance to see, only patin fish most 95% of the time. Might as well as call it patin feeding. Food given to attract aripaima is bread, fish food, chicken heads. But i think the aripaima don't come because of perceived over feeding. Also too many patin fish.
Many areas in the farm needs improvement. This is my 4th visit here as part of my job in the last 3 months and i have been visiting Jong since 2006.
The river turtle ponds need a serious makeover. If they can talk, the will speak to you about a tale of woe and depression. Some are quite old and deserve better living habitats.
The petting zoo where the chickens, ducks and baby goats are is unkempt, dirty and depressing.
Where is the cassowary bird? Where are the sun bears? On my last visit, now the wild boar, sus barbatus, has gone missing.
I am glad that there is a petting chance with the goats, not much but still enjoyable.
My reply to those who are negative about a crocodile farm is this : it remains the the best safe place for family entertainment, safe for kids and the elderly. The only way to see actual crocodiles is to go out in the wild, something that is not often viable due to cost, safety and weather conditions.
The nesting ground section seems to be on permanent closure.
Two crocodile feeding pond. The smaller one looks unkempt and it's slightly embarrassing. The ponds are green with algea, there are less crocodiles and they seemed sluggish. The young new staffs who feed them still have a lot to learn about being part of the crowd puller.

Are crocodiles an attraction?!? I agree with previous review that the place might be of interest for children, but not for audits. This is a small zoo with different species. The selection criteria for the animals in the cages are not clear. To spent the time in the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Kuching is much more exciting, even if one may not have the chance to meet the orangutans.

We expected something totally different. All animals live in very little space and don't look like they are well cared for. Crocodile show seemed lazy and forced. Price for forigners is doubled. What really put us off was one bear running around - looked like he wanted to escape. This was very depressing to watch. Unfortunately we left with regret that we had went there and skipped half of offered "attractions".

My friend and I are backpackers and were visiting the crocodile farm due to good reputation, expecting a kinda natural farm to get an impression about life and facts of crocodiles.
Maybe just naiv. We've got to see some run down cages where crocodiles can't even turn once because their body is almost as big as its placement. I don't know much about these animals, but no further I nfo was provided except for Latin names and short facts about origin. for me and my friend this looks like heavy animal abuse and we left immediately.
Also, be aware to bring kids since this "zoo" starts with provocative and horrible pictures of human bodies teared to pieces as a result of crocodile attacks.
In the end you can buy leather products - made out of crocodile, of course.
Please don't support this kind of animal farming and spend your money on a river cruise somewhere around Kuching, instead. Chances are high to see some happy free crocodiles instead if you are going with a good guide.

Really a nice place to visit, especially with children. But I would recommend it to adults too.
We loved the 11 o'clock show and also the living spaces of all the crocodiles too.
there is also a wall with the scariest photos I have ever seen, people (child) cut out of a BIG crocodile....etc.
11 and 15 o'clock the feeding show starts and it takes about 30 min to feed them with I think are "lungs".
entrance fee 16 adults, 8 children below 8!!
open 9 till 5.

Having just visted Semenggoh we tagged this place on to the end of our outing. I really wish we hadn't. The conditions the animals are kept in is appalling. The crocs are overcrowded. The sunbear enclosure was filthy and depressing. All 3 of my kids aged 5 and 9 asked to leave and did so in tears. The photographs of the dead child are exploitative and clearly not something young children should see. My kids had already started to cry before seeing them due to the distress they felt seeing the animals. Disgraceful and a rip off.

I was shocked when visitors from KL are considered as foreigners with double charges while only Sarawakians get RM10 entrance fees. It is better to go the Semenggoh Wildlife Center.

As well as crocodiles they have some other local and exotic species. The condition of the animal enclosures is disgusting and the condition of some of the animals questionable. We saw a turtle that was either dead or dying with its entrails hanging out. When feeding the crocodiles they tease them which frankly is not nice to watch. A lot of the water the crocs were in was covered in green slime. We saw one lot of visitors who wanting to get close up photo of a monkey was feeding it ice cream whilst staff seemingly turned a blind eye. Better to take your chances to see crocodiles in the wild on a river cruise.

Would you care to respond to the multiple claims and reports around Kuching that cats (pet cats) are trapped and then sold to your farm to feed the crocodiles?
Written 26 January 2016
Hi, we feed our crocs with chickens. And we have supplier for the chickens. Hope this clarifies.
