About
The National Botanical Garden Shah Alam which was previously known as TPM and which was initially known as Bukit Cerakah Agriculture Park was developed on 24th April 1986 before it was promulgated as the Bukit Cahaya Seri Alam Agriculture Park Malaysia by the late Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Al-Haj ibni Hishamuddin Alam Shah Al-Haj in 1991. The name TBNSA conferred to the park now is in line with the decision made by the Cabinet of Ministers in 2007 to further develop TBNSA as a replacement to TPM. The objective for the development of TBNSA is to create a national centre of excellence within the fields of education, scientific research and conservation for the development of botanical, horticulture, agriculture and other various related fields.

It's a nice place to be if you intend to pull away from the busy city life and getting close to nature. What to expect from this place:
1) It's humongous! (Doubt can finish covering the whole park on food within a day)
2) There's a mini zoo inside the park. The kids would love it.
3) Relatively cheap entrance fee (in the forms of few bucks)
4) Not entirely well-maintained but bearable (as expected from a government funded public place)
5) Provides bicycle rental services to patrons at relatively cheap price if you would like to cycle around.
6) Accommodation facilities available (chalet / tent)
7) You can plan for team building activity within the compound (with prior written permission)

National Botanical Garden was opened in 1986. It goes by many names. Initially when it was opened, it was known as Bukit Cerakah Forest Reserve, later Bukit Cahaya Seri Alam. The name was later changed to Malaysia Agriculture Park. In 2011 it was renamed Taman Botani Negara Shah Alam or National Botanical Garden Shah Alam. The park is huge, over 200 acres comprising of jungle, spice and vegetable garden, lakes, paintball valley, animal park and four seasons temperature house. Much of the parks built up landscaping like bridges, watch towers, gazebos and pathways are in disrepair and need urgent maintenance and upkeep. Activities here include hiking, walking, cycling, fishing and exploring. The air here is fresh and it is a great place to commune with Nature.

1) The place is enormus
2) The ticket entrance is cheap.
3) A few attractions are not well-maintained.
4) The only best thing here is 4seasons house where we can experience the weather in overseas. You have to pay xtra to get inside this house.
5) During the peak seasons, it can be crowded.

We went there on the spur of the moment after visiting the blue mosque and did not know what to expect. The grounds are huge (fruit farm is 2.5 km from entrance) but bikes are available. We got there late so we did not have much time left and headed for the rice paddies (nice) and on to the animal park. Big mistake! We found that the bunny park (costs extra) was closed. What we found on the other side of the road can only be described as a cat prison!! A small (app. 8 x 3 m) cage that contained about a dozen cats that were fighting and screaming like crazy, which is to be expected when you keep them that way. Horrific, my children very nearly cried (we have cats at home) and I found it hard to stomach. After that none of us were in the mood to continue our walk and left. The staff I talked to about this did not seem to understand my concerns (well they do get food dont they). What a shame, the park itself is a very nice place as far as we could tell.

My boyfriend and I went for a bicycle ride in the park. The price is reasonable RM5.00 per hour.
Saw some team building activities going on. They have flying fox for adult and kids. Fun outdoor place. Next time we will go for picnic by the lake.

If you want to have a tree top experience then try Skytrax, as for the rest of the place all I have to say is 'wasted opportunity' poorly maintained, let to degrade into nothing more than a decent road to ride a bike around. They have missed a trick with the vast area the gardens occupy they could make something of it. I am not sure why they are den eloping a new area at the entrance when the rest the place is so poorly kept.

A weekend with family ..away from the clamor of busy streets and polluted air.. this place is a refreshing place to have gathering and activities.. The location and surrounding of tropical forests like is very green and alarmingly a huge area if u want to go exploring....
However, activities like cycling and having a walk is good since trees are big here and fresh air...
I just wish that this place better mantained and creatively more activities happening here...
Potential for a good picnic and jungle trekking if given more thought to it...help brings more people giving for beter reviews...sad to see this plce wasted to become a rundown trekking area...

Went to this place with my family and really like it.
The entrance fee was very reasonable at RM3. There’s bus to take you inside, you can walk or rent a bike as well if you want.
There’s lots of activity you can do. Be it the extreme Park with rock climbing, canopy walk, flying fox.
There seasonal house
There’s petting zoo
There public pool
Horse riding
And many more
I suggest you bring a picnic basket with you if you plan a visit as food place is right at the entrance and not so variety
