A small Castle in Musandam, Oman. One has to feel that time living by visiting this small fort. Not a very attraction one for all class of traveler. But good for one having historic interest,

This 400-year old castle/fort is set up as a museum/exhibit now, with different themed rooms. Very interesting. I had this huge place to myself for most of the time, not a lot of tourists until a bus dropped off about 20.

This is a regional museum and as such focuses on the very local area. It does very well with the limited budget it has. We went first thing in the morning and took some excellent pictures and had time to read the print outs before more tourists came. The artifacts, especially the jewellery and ornamentation are worthwhile examining closely. On... More

The Oman town of Khasab has not many attractions, but the Khasab castle stands out, situated ideally to protect the bay and the valley. The museum tells the history of both Portuguese and Oman forces and how they have been involved in the history of this part of Oman, separated from the main part of the country. An absolute must... Loved visiting Khasab Castle, this should be on your must visit list for Musandam. Really interesting place with good descriptions of the various rooms and some very interesting books on Oman. We thought it might be a half hour visit and ended up staying there well over two hours! Very good value for money.

This was more than I expected I thought I'd see empty rooms, but in fact there are recreations of scenes, furniture and carpets decorating the rooms, and lots of artefacts on display. In addition there is a lot of information about the history and the geography of the region.

This was a great fort museum with interesting exhibits. Well maintained with a very pleasant man on the front desk. My kids loved exploring all the nooks and crannies, and we all enjoyed the video on old customs. Excellent

Khasab Castle is a colonial Portuguese fort built around a pre-colonial Omani tower. The displays were fascinating and very informative. The research library was a surprise. The price was very reasonable (OR .500). The one disappointment was that the gift shop was closed during our visit.

Khasab is a small city in Oman. It was one of the stops of my cuise. The castle is ona walking distance (around 20 min) from the port. The exhibits inside are interesting, there is also video and audio in some rooms. The entrance fee is cheap-$2 per person.

I didn't have a lot of time to explore this fortress/castle that was originally a Portuguese fortification, which was later modified by the Omanis after they expelled the Portuguese. But I did have just enough time (an hour) to visit it. It is full of exhibits recreating Omani life and arts. The courtyard contains a few traditional boats and an... More
