Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

For adventure seekers it will be a good experience to climb down the sink hole.for a family trip it gives a magnificent view of this deep hole and surrounding greenery. We saw a few young men climbing down. But seems very tough.

The view at the car park, when we arrived, was unassuming... But as we walked over rocky ground towards where we could see other people, we began to appreciate the enormity of the sinkhole. It's hugely impressive!

To get the best view, walk to the right and climb up the rocky outcrop (walking shoes are essential!). You can see the cave entrance far down. We didn't walk down - there is only a goat track and I would estimate it takes 2-3 hours to get down to it.

The edge of the sinkhole isn't fenced off, so those with children (or reckless adults!) should take care.

There weren't any amenities at this location when we visited in July 2017.

The drive to this place and back is a great experience. During Khareef season (July-September) the landscape is fresh green with cows grazing about the mist laden hillside giving you a feel of rustic agrarian rural life. You get to see glimpses of the village folk as well.

The drive through the rolling hillside road takes you to Teeq Cave. We felt that we were atop the cave as a careful glance from the side of the slightly rocky terrain revealed a big drop from where we could hear a cacophony of different bird sounds. We could see sparrows, swifts and some other species as well coming out and going in to their nests in the cliff side! The place can be windy at times and venturing out to the edge of it is stupidity (we saw some taking selfies) especially when it's windy and you are wearing loose fitting clothes!

Honestly, the place is not worth visiting. The sink hole is hardly visible from the top. There is no access to the place. In case you have seen the sink hole near Muscat, just do not waste your time visiting there. There is nothing to see.

Tawi Ateer sinkhole
We couldn't go very deep in the sinkhole as it was raining and the floor was very sleepy.
It is then difficult to judge whether or not the visit is worth it

Teeq cave:
Absolutely amazing.
3rd largest "sinkhole" worldwide.
800 meters deep and up to 1000 m width

Around 15 kms after the Wadi Derbat (go straight without going left for Wadi Derbat). After Al Maha Petrol Bunk (on left side) take the next left and follow the sign boards to Sinkhole. It's a natural wonder, there is deck constructed to see the same (which isn't any exciting). Then we trekked down the hole from the deck, and the trek was awesome (steep slopes). Later we got to know that it is one of the deepest Sinkholes in the world, and the excitement doubled!!

It was very nice place and a long drive there which is very fuggy area in July so you cant see any thing and the drive will be little risky, you need to go from the morning time cause it is long drive and at the same time you can go to Wadi Darbat which very nice and close to this cave .
