First of all: Unless you want to go birdwatching, you absolutely need no guide. The track has signs and is easy to find.
This track is very beautiful, there is no entrance fee (!) and if you start early (we started at 7), you'll have...More
There are millions ago articles posted and there is little to add: make up your mind whether you like more up or downhill. Once that is “clear” for you it will be nice experience for you ;-)
It will not be needed to start before...More
Our guide Jaime was knowledgeable and happy and we saw many new birds and flora as well as howlermonkeys. 2 great things about the tour were that different guides with other groups were excited to share their finds with other groups and our guide shared...More
We arrived at the Sendero Los Quetzales trail from Boquete about mid morning. We signed in at the park station before we took off. The hike is beautiful with a variation of terrain. The last 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile to the mid way...More
The reviews are confusing. I think it depends on the conditions when you are there. We didn't have any of the mud issues that others describe, infact, we often walked by the helpful stones and stumps meant to assist with wet and mud. There is...More
Great hike; if you want to go all the way to the top you should start early (6 km one way, but a constant up, so about 3 hours are being recommended). You can also always start and turn around mid-way. The path soon takes...More

Initially we wanted to do the hike from Cerro Punta straight...More
We had a great hike along the Sendero Los Quetzales. We left a car at the Boquete side around 6:30 am and drove with friends to the Volcancito side, which took about two hours, setting off on the hike at around 10:00 in the morning....More

Our guide was also Jason Lara, and he was superb. Super enthusiastic, great English, knows birds and the places they are likely to be found, and will do anything he can to make sure you have the kind of experience you want to have. We also wrote a separate, more detailed review of his service. It's true that you don't need a guide, but you are likely to see way more wildlife, etc, if you do.
sorry but we can't find their card.....we booked a nice married couple recommended by the hotel, casa grande bambito. Carolina at the front desk is very helpful and perhaps can help you.
enjoy the trek.....
