An amazing experience

Try this for an amazing experience, I would consider it a "must do" when visiting Panama. A canoe was waiting for us and took us during a 30 minute trip on the Chagres river. I... read more

Try this for an amazing experience, I would consider it a "must do" when visiting Panama. A canoe was waiting for us and took us during a 30 minute trip on the Chagres river. I did not expect much but was really surprised about the beautiful and amazing nature all around us. We left the canoe and walked for about... More

Visiting the Chagres National Forest and meeting the Embreas tribe was by far the highlight of our Panama visit. At first I was not sure about doing this day trip as it was the last full day of our trip, it was raining off and on, and I kinda just wanted to hang out for a day. But my better... More

Look, the park itself is great, but the miserable villagers were kind of a sham. 1. An hour and a half bus ride, 2. then a 7 minute power motored canoe ride 3. to a village of uninhabited straw huts ( the villagers actually live in concrete buildings behind the "village" with satellite dishes, computers, tvs) 4. the villagers wear... My wife and I booked this excursion with Holland America while on the Zuiderdam. After passing through the Gatun Locks of the Panama Canal, the shipped anchored in Gatun Lake. A ferry boat took us to a dock leading us to dozens of buses for the various excursions Holland America had to offer. After our bus was filled, off we... More

Do not miss the chance! Visited Embera village from a cruise ship! Great chance to see a real village with real people. Very friendly and welcoming. Share part of their life. Did have an opportunity to get temporary tattoos and buy some of their local baskets. They supplement their income. Very gentle, friendly people.

Broadway like production, very slick and entertaining. The Cheif spoke Spanish, English, his dialect and French, but while on display he had an interpreter for us (the audience). The children go into town or abroad for college, but often return to live on the reservation. They are proud of their culture and are working to preserve it through tourism.

You get into a real dugout canoe with a motor and head up river. The Embera people are a good looking bunch and very talented with basket weaving and wood carving. The food is liked by most and I loved the salty plantain type things they offered us. The river is very scenic and you can get lots of photo's.... More

We took this excursion during our recent cruise to the Panama Canal. It was an amazing experience to learn about their way of life and the history of these people. I would recommend this trip to anyone visiting Panama!

My wife and I elected to book this trip through Ann Gordon of Embers village tours. We were picked up from our hotel in Balboa and driven to the embarkation point on the river Charges within the Charges National park. Very nice trip in a dugout canoe to the entrance of the Embers village. We were greeted by the Embers... More

Traversed the Gatun lake in a dug out canoe with no signs of modern life. An area of outstanding beauty with loads of wildlife
