Go with a good guide
Jul 2019
We had booked all our 4 day 3 nights jungle tours thru a good local agency. If you shop around online and research on TripAdvisor, you will find plenty of them. They all are very responsive and quote you and give you the details upfront. This is not something I recommend you do by yourself, its a huge jungle out there and there is lots to do but you need to know where to go and where to look and when. Providing that you heed to this advice, the jungle is full of fabulously exotic flora and fauna to see. The beauty and serenity of the jungle, the river and the lake is extremely admirable.
Note, it is hot an humid, we were there in July but it is that way whole year round. Have good shoes, full sleeves, long pants, 100% DEET insect repellent, hat, sunscreen, snacks, water, backpack etc, you will find all the details on multiple websites, please take them seriously.
There is plenty of walking involved in the hot and humid but hey, you are in the Amazon, think twice before you get little kids, we enjoyed every minute. Very highly recommended.

Walking through the jungle was such an amazing experience, despite the heat, humidity, and mud (last part of rainy season). Our Inkaterra guide, Saay, made the tours.

Great hike

This hike was what we expected of the Amazon Jungle. Narrow path through vegetation, large trees a real experience.

Great Experience.

This is what you come to the Amazon to do. We had a fantastic guide, Fernando, nothing was too much trouble, what ever we wanted to see he would arrange it, from wild bird clay licks, animal hides, river trips, canopy viewing and so on, it was a great experience.
The resorts supply community gumboots, because it can get very boggy on the jungle trails.
Be prepared for some long walks.

Lots of trees, insects and other creatures. Birds singing +++
only mammals seen were in the eco reserve-with many rescued animals. Wear bug repellent and long sleeves/pants/good boots.

Loved our time in the Amazon!
Sep 2017 • Couples
Our lodge (Refugio) was a 2 1/2 hour boat ride down the Tambopata river. We had several hikes w/guide through the Amazon Rain forest over 3 days. Each was unique for the types of wildlife we saw. Our guide, Juan Carlos, was tremendous about pointing out the flora & fauna and explaining medicinal uses and characteristics as well.

Additionally, our guide hiked with a pedestal mounted telescope. Whenever he spotted wildlife high up in trees, he would set our I-phones to his scope which gave amazing close ups of a howler monkey nursing her baby, giant toucan, Macaws etc.

It was a priceless experience and we hope to return in future. Highly recommend.

Great experience of many jungle creatures. The walk is a bit long but it is somewhat isolated and no vehicles are permitted into the park.

Absolutely fantastic! Unbelievable going up the Amazon for three hours and arriving at the lodge after dark and not believing such a wonderful site. Our guide for three days was Paul and was great. I'm going to take my grandsons there next year.

well, it's the amazonian jungle. it's great. can see lot's of animals, of course it's up to them.. but birds, insects, sloths, monkeys are easy to see, and you can be lucky with pumas or yaguars, caimans, snakes.. there are some amazing threes also, and it's very insteresting to hear what the guides have to say, always. beautiful.
