Lake Titicaca Peru Rail When we first learned that the train from Puno to Cusco was 10-11 hours long, we dreaded it. Actually, it went by fast. The best way to do it is to book a first-class ticket that includes a gourmet lunch and...More

I did the Uros/Taqueila island tour with my husband and son in Jan. This is a full day tour (from 7am-3pm); or you could do the half-day tour of just the reeds islands, i.e. Uros. We took the full-day tour package from our hotel and...More

When planning my trip to Peru, I was sure I wanted to visit Titicaca, however I didn't like the idea of the commercialized day trips from Puno. This is why I chose to stay at a guesthouse (Inti Wasi) at Capachica peninsula. This was a...More

We had a very nice day on the lake visiting local (real) islands and a floating island. We bought some very nice woven goods from the islands; they were genuine and the people were genuine. Such skilled and hard workers. One of our group bought...More

I enjoyed see the legendary Lake Titicaca, but it did not quite live up to the hype. It’s lovely, but very commercialized. We took a tour which allowed us to stop on one of the private islands. It was interesting to learn about the floating...More

Place is a magical. We did a boat trip but were super satisfied. We were hesitant to stay over night reading the remoteness of the floating islands. However, next time we would surely stay on the floating islands.

From the moment I decided to visit Peru (Machu Picchu), I knew that I had to somehow fit in Lake Titicaca. For all the reasons that you may already know. It’s the largest lake in South America at 3,200 square miles (118 miles long and...More

We visited Puno hoping to take a full day tour out to Tequile island. However, thanks to a delayed arrival by coach, we only had time for a half day tour of the floating Uros islands. Based only a half hour from Puno they are...More
