It was interesting, as far as interest went. I enjoyed the walk, listening to our guide tell us a little more about the area other than that of the ruin (if you want to call it that). I enjoyed a quiet walk in the cemetery across the road, along with the flowers and plants that were there. We actually learned a couple of wild plants that have medicinal value, growing right there in the cemetery. An enjoyable day on our way to our special place.

Came to Chucuito with a group of archaeologists who are studying in the area. Being here with this group was exciting as I got some in depth information about the archaeological sites within Chucuito. At the northeastern end of the town there is a beautiful viewpoints which provides excellent views of Lake Titicaca & you can see one of the ancient roads used by the Inca (still visible & adjacent to the modern road). If you have a chance, stop by the Chucuito museum. It's quite small but very intriguing nonetheless. Lastly, we stopped at the site Inca Uyu. The entrance fee was pretty cheap ~5 soles (if I remember correctly). You can marvel at the amazing Inca stone masonry. There are some interesting stone sculptures in tribute to "male fertility" in the courtyard. However, these stone works are not part of the original architecture & were likely added sometime in the early 20th century. There were also a couple of alpacas lounging around the site. It was nice. Definitely a must see for any archaeology enthusiasts.

The main attraction is the fertility temple just next to the smaller of the 2 churches. The bigger plaza has a solar clock, but as it was cloudy I didn't see if it works. There is also a small private museum where you just donate whatever money you want. The guardian is really nice and guides you through the museum. The children of the village take part in the museum life by digging out shards.
The best thing is that you can just take a local bus for 1.50 Soles. I-Peru at Puno will help you to find the right bus station. And a restaurant on the right side corner of the big plaza serves giant trout for only 10 Soles

I used the local transportation to Chucuito in order to see two things: the inca ruins of the Fertitlity Temple and a Trout breeding department of the Andean University.
I thoroughly enjoyed both attractions and recommend to anyone who is in Puno,

We visited the place through and agency call Expedition Pacha, what a scam.
The place is just ok, not worth any money to go there.
Small village, just a few things to visit.
We visited the fertility temple, it looks great and funny in the pictures, but it's small and disappointing when there.

Went here just when the strike was on. This visit was spoilt by the bus drivers strike in the town. Blocking all the roads into the area and putting stones on the ground. Not a good promotion for the area and not planning on putting money into this area again

If you’re looking for a small 1-2 hour excursion this is good. It is about 20 minutes by taxi from Puno and cost about s/40 and you can catch the shuttle bus back for s/1.50
The only thing to really see here it’s the fertility temple.

Agreed with some of the others that say if you're short on time, nothing special.
I hired a taxi/tour to take me, and I could have skipped it. But, if you have a free morning, it's a good way to kill time. Supposedly there is a very good pork restaurant off the main square (to the right of the church) but they weren't open when I went.
The fertility temple was interesting, and kind of crazy to see. Also, the church in the smaller square that is no longer in use has a phallus on top instead of a cross!
For me the most interesting part was just seeing the town in action. Neat to walk around and experience a small town.

I visited Chucuito on a Monday. At the fertility temple my only company was two grazing alpacas and the phallic-like rocks protruding from the earth. My guide walked around with me in the small space. Not very exciting. I DID enjoy the scenic overlook near the center of town (la mirada Chucuito) where a loudly braying donkey joined me while I took photos. My tour guide suggested the poor beastie might not have been fed, so I gave him the fruit in my purse and the water from my canteen and he grunted in satisfaction the rest of my (short) stay. There are a few very basic shops in the main square and outdoor food vendors for those who are adventurous enough to eat street food. If you are in Puno for an extended period of time and are looking for a nice half day outing (in dry weather), by all means stop by. In my view -- considering all the other options of things to do in Puno -- Chucuito otherwise would not merit mention.

When I visited the tourist office near the plaza, I inquired on other places I have not visited from last time. They recommended this place, Chuquito. It is nicknamed “The Rome of Peru”. After that nickname, it brought me curiosity. It sounded romantic. She gave me instructions how to get there, which shared bus to take, how much for the fare and what to expect. My friend and I took off.
It is about 30 minutes drive from Puno. We arrived and unloaded in the middle of the plaza. Do you know of any plaza in the Americas where there is no church in the center? I have not seen one. This one was no exception. There on the corner stood a huge, ancient church. Around the plaza are restaurants and the Inka Uyo Ruins about three blocks away.
Either I really missed something when I blinked my eyes but there is nothing here that feels like Rome! Chuquito also means “City of Real Boxes”.
