Yes , this museum location now closed. Collection (which is amazing) has been moved go a new location, in town of Moche municipal building. Did not make it there, but poster at Huaca de la Luna had info (see photo).

We found the museum closed and deserted. An interested bystander informed us the collection has been moved to Moche township. Possibly the new museum near the Temple of th Moon.

I waited and waited at the proper time. 2+ hours only because the other reviews. Door was open, radio was on but the gate was closed. Shame it is poorly run.

We went there just by walking from the main square. It was not that easy to find, because from outside is very simple, you can even think that there is not a museum in there! We knock the door and a very gentle guy invited...More

modest but comprehensive museum run by U of Trujillo. amazing artifacts and well laid out. worth the visit, about 3dollars unless you are a senior which makes it half of that.

We loved the pieces of art from the antiquities, and our guide's educational commentary, but the collection clearly desires a better facility, and curating. One small room filled with an abundance of ceramics, and a bit of worked metals.

It is in a dusty basement. Senor Casenelli gave us a tour himself. It is his private collection. Some vessels are faces of Africans which makes one wonder if Africans once walk the continest of South America.
