This is a decent size cemetery most known for leader of the Underground Railroad Harriet Tubman, William H Seward (Secretary of State for Lincoln. Purchased Alaska), Theodore W Case (created the first commercially successful soundtrack for motion pictures), Jerome Holland (Ambassador to Sweden, Cornell football star, first African American director of the New York Stock Exchange), Lydia Ann Moulton Jenkins (1st Ordained Female Minister for Universalist of Ontario, Doctor of Hydrotherapy, suffragette and temperance leader) and many other famous local/national people. In 1852 an obelisk of native stone, fifty-six feet in height, was erected to the memory of Tah-gah-jute, or Logan, the celebrated Chief of the Cayugas, a tribe of the Six Nations. It is an impressive sight at the top of the hill in the cemetery. I wouldn't drive some hills in icy conditions, but a lovely spot for Spring thru Fall driving.…

This was a really neat old cemetery. The grounds were very well kept and the headstones and monuments are interesting. You could spend a good portion of the day walking around and be content, although I only spent about 30 minutes visiting the two famous residents.

We went in just to see Seward and Tubman’s graves. We took a picture of the map at the entrance and that made it easy to find the plots. Well maintained and worth the trip in. Such a historical place.

The cemetery is nice look at history. Worth taking a few hours to walk about and study the monuments.
