Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place is near magellans, basilica and fort san pedro. Just google map it. No need to hire a tour guide.

Visited when Ave Maria was at full blast and a gorgeous, big family, wedding was on. Cried a tear, while admiring the wonderful and ornate Cathedral work. So happy I saw this right after the Basilica.

For me this is the best Architecture at the Downtown, it is visible from the road side and eyes catching... This Catedral is all covered with white color, make it looks more holy and sacral place. the bell tower will rings sometimes,

I love the architecture of this church. It's a good church for weddings. It also has air conditioning. For weddings you'll have to pay 25,000 the last time I searched in order to turn on the air conditioning of the whole church.

A Japanese Bishop Kiyoharu Ogi invited our family for the ordination of a Cebuano priest in this church. The church was recently renovated in preparation for the proposed visit of Pope Francis ( the visit did not push thru). This old church is very accessible , jeepneys , taxis ply the along roads , P.Burgos and Legaspi streets . The famous Sto Nino Cathedral is just 2 blocks away.

As I've mentioned in my other contribution it is only walking distance from the popular Basilica and Magellan Cross and I don't think many tourists know about this cathedral. (not like me when I asked a driver he gave me pointers what to see around the area).
I found the place so quiet and calm and whoever wants silence when praying should go here instead of the noisy and crowded Basilica. I saw some people sitting on the benches outside like they're just having peaceful time.
As written by others the architecture of the church is typical of Spanish colonial churches with carved relieves of floral motifs. The construction is made of cut stones and concrete plaster and is now glossed over with a simple white paint.
It's really amazing that as informed this building has gone through many earthquakes but still stands today.

When I was a child my family will always go to church either here at Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral or at Sto. Niño Church. The church facade is clearly old but the modern renovations can be clearly seen. Today it is painted white. Last December during Christmas Season, the church was decorated with a lot of lighting that will contrast the darknes of the night. I love to attend mass here.
