Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Attracted by the much mystery we had read about it, we went to visit the said forest, convinced we would find who knows what. Total disappointment. It's a normal walk in the woods, with nothing unusual. We didn't even find a twisted tree, even though we walked quite a few trails. We went to the clearing, took photos in the center without having any strange sensations. Everything in absolute normality. If you don't expect anything beyond a normal trek, the forest remains very beautiful, with lots of vegetation and full of chirping of various bird species. Those looking for a sort of Bermuda Triangle will be very disappointed.

This place is disappointing unless you re a fan of UFOs and history channel documentaries about paranormal activities. A typical forest with a story built by a few newspapers. I didn't feel anything special during the hours spent there.

This place is quite close to the city, actually there is a forest over there...that people say it is haunted. People say that here they have seen ghosts, dead walkers or UFOs, your phone lose it's signal, time pass different or so on.... etc etc.
I have never seen or experience any of this....bu what i can truly say is there is some kind of magic.... you can find yourself over there so close to the city ...and so far at the same time. You can not hear the noise inside the city, the air is fresh and clean and in the evening or night time you can enjoy the top hill view of the lighted city of Cluj. A great place to spot the stars as well. Romantic and so on...

We were there a week ago, hoping to find something mystic in this forest, based on what we have read.
Un(?) fortunately, we did not feel any out of this world energy (neither auto-suggested, I personally tried, but it just did not work), no-one was "watching us". The presumably "perfectly round circle where nothing grows" and which should be the most haunted place of all the forest turned out to be a pretty cute small clearing (not really circle shaped) with grass and butterflies.
Instead of bizarre voices we heard birds and the only thing that scared me was spider net into which I ran by chance.
The place is magic - yes - but by its beauty and position. The natural magic of the forest was able to transform horrible town hot (37°C) summer day, to a calm, joyful and nice place to be.
When we came out, the view was just beautiful.

They say the forest is haunted, or an unexplainable energy hot-spot. Well, nothing happened to me, I didn't feel anything, no mystical trance, no spooky energies, nothing at all.
On a second thought, I did feel something: pain. This forest is not neglected. It is mistreated. Many of those who came here left a lot of garbage behind, like plastic, glass bottles and metal cans. Then came the others, the ones who like to do off-road with their 4x4s and they destroyed the mud tracks and pathways, crushed the bushes (I can't understand what kind of pleasure one could feel while crushing a big bush under his car's wheels).
With better behaved people, it might be a beautiful place.

Its quite hard to find but its next to the etno musuem in Cluj - there werent any signs for it at all, so putting that into your sat nav would be the better option.
We just went on our own for a few pictures and its a nice forest but nothing more than that.
The photos of twisted trees that people seem to be talking about arent edited, but they are of a different forest in a different country. Namely Krzywy Las in Poland and its next to where I live!

It was a special experience for us having known some of the mysteries behind the forest. We entered around 7pm, making our way to the clearing passing through weird tree formation, and some strange markings. Our guide Alex shared a lot of stories that made our trek a lot more interesting to add to the experience was the rain and thunder that followed. After a few minutes in the clearing and sharing stories we saw what appeared to be lights moving behind the trees...a mystery understood by few who has been in the forest ;). We made it out of the around 10pm walking to the closet town to wait for a taxi.

Except for the round clearing where you feel safe this whole forest will give your the feeling your are in a special place. The energy is weird, you will not be afraid but the anxiety will follow you the second day after the visit. You will want to shake it off but it will be really hard. Trees are weirdly shaped...not too tall. No phone signal. You will most definitely stumble against something. Ask the guys to give you the small thingy that measures radiations, keep it close and watch it spike in unexpected places (put all phones in plane mode). Would actually not recommend you to go there unless you are really into this stuff...creepy.

We visited the forest in Dec 2016, and were pleasantly surprised to meet a few locals walking in there.
2 of them said the pics of the twisted forest tree trunks were photo-edited
We also walked for kms without seeing twisted forest tree trunks as shown on the internet. We saw beatutiful 2 adult wild deers though

Did any of the visitors in this (supposed haunted) forest go there at night time, for a couple of hours?
I understand the forest seems still and even cozy at daytime.

How do we find the entrance to the forest?
Written 20 September 2018
it's better to ask a local or a guide, we entered through the back street of the new construction sites, and walked to the forest through the little hill behind the street. if you go by taxi, you can just tell the driver ( taxis are really cheap)

Hi, just wondering where you found your guide? I'm aiming to be there in June, and would LOVE a tour - but no idea where to start!
Thx :)
