Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Some elaborate paintings inside and out. The detail of the art is worth the visit. No photo's permitted inside. If you are a shopper, there are many stalls on the way towards the entry. 10 Lei entry fee (May 2023) and parking was 5 Lei.

Once more another of the 8 monasteries of Bucovina - that are on the UNESCO world heritage list ... This one is situated near Gura Humorului , just a few km outside of the city, once again not built by king Stephen the great, this monastery was built by the royal chancellor of king Petru Rares - Teodor Bubuiog ...
The main color of this monastery is red - and shades of dark red (Vornoret is blue, Sucevita is green, ... this is red.)
Same thing like with the other monasteries - the paintings on the outside - the world famous paintings are slowly but surely fading - one of the walls is still looking spectacular.
Entrance fee is very pocket friendly, but pay attention -no pictures allowed inside the church.
The tower in the courtyard is also worth a few minutes of attention - to climb to the top platform will be an adventure on itself.
Overall an interesting experience - when you are in Bucovina check it out.

Definitely don't miss the Humor and Voronets monasteries. These are unique cultural patrimony, and very beautiful. Easy access from Gura Homorului, which is good base for exploring all the Bucovina painted monasteries-- Also don't miss the exceptionally interesting museum of painted eggs Lucia Condrea, five minutes away from the Moldovita monastery: 11,000 painted eggs, a short film about her techniques, gorgeous and another unique place-specific thing to see in this area.

One of the must see monasteries. There is a tower to climb that has a steep stairway but offers a pretty view of the area and the other churches near the monastery. There is a good preserved side but one side has not kept with the times as well. Inside is very beautiful.

We were the most impressed by the nuns who were very kind and told a lot of interesting stories about orthodox saints.

The monastery is well signposted from Guru Humorului and has a decent car park just down the road from it. We were charged 3 lei for parking from someone who had a ticket book but no idea if that is genuine!
The monastery is beautiful, surrounded by rose gardens that are well tended. The nun at the entrance (the gate was closed and we thought the place hadn't opened but it was unlocked) was excellent - very helpful with good English. The tower is well worth climbing but the last set of stairs are incredibly narrow and steep, I way 67kg and I had to turn sideways to squeeze up them!
The pictures show how beautiful the exterior paintings are but I was saddened that nothing is being done to preserve them. One side has pretty much faded away already.

Built as a triconch church, the architecture of the edifice combines Gothic elements, visible in the shape of doors and windows, with local elements already used before in the painted churches from Bucovina

if you're lucky enough to get there early in the morning on the day of a special service. A handful of nuns are singing to accompany the service. One of the older of them is apparently singing in Romanian, but it was not easily distinguishable from Latin. Standing outside, I was certain I was hearing a commercial recording of old gregorian chants because her voice is at least as good and probably better than any I've ever heard. (It is conceivable I am getting Humor confused with one of the other 4 main painted monasteries).
