A lovely cathedral with distinctly eastern european culture.

Really enjoyed my visit here. Some great stories of faith in the historical section that could easily be missed.

It was built between 1936-1941 in Neo-Moldavian style (based on Romanian Orthodox, late Renaissance, Ottoman and Byzantine architecture elements). The main architect was Ioan D. Details from Wikipedia: "Built on an area of 1,542 m2 (16,600 sq ft), it has 11 towers, of which the central and the highest has a height... More

I was on a night time tour so I was unable to go inside. The outside is magnificent. Well lit up at night in the square.

I live in Timișoara and I know that the Orthodox Cathedral is one of the spiritual emblems of this city. I took from the Wikipedia page some information regarding this so dear to me fascinating religious building: ”From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: (A.) ‹ The template Infobox religious building is being considered for merging. › Timișoara Orthodox Cathedral Catedrala Mitropolitană... New to town and walking about, we stumbled upon the church without realizing its significance. We later learned more about its historic significance to the Revolution from our hired guide.
