Finding My Roots - Back to the Old Country

I cannot say enough about what a wonderful experience my husband and I had when we spent 3 days with Alex. She made it possible for us to visit Steierdorf, where my grandparents immigrated from and which was settled 250 years ago by 5 of my 4th great grandfathers. She served as our driver and interpreter and arranged for local guides. She went the extra mile to make sure that museums, churches, cemeteries, and train stations were open for us to fully experience the village. She made all of the arrangements for us to experience Steierdorf and provided extras by taking us to unique artisans in nearby areas. Our time concluded with her sharing Timisoara with us. I can absolutely recommend that you consider Alex if you want a professional, personable, and capable guide to experience Romania.

We enjoyed a trip to Arad under Alexandra's guidance, purpose to explore family roots.
We were treated to historical sites and critical information that was well-researched and filled many gaps in our understanding. Moreover Alexandra is personable and articulate.

Wonderful experience connecting to my past

In September of 2023 I had the good fortune of traveling to Timisoara to visit the area where many of my ancestors emigrated from. What luck that Alexandra with Timisoara Tour Guides lives and works in this area as a tour guide focusing on genealogy. She set up a wonderful day visiting several village churches and cemeteries where my ancestors once lived, planned a traditional Banat lunch at a local restaurant, and shared her beautiful city with me. Prior to my visit she also did research into my family line and helped add to my family tree. Her knowledge of the history of the area in general is extensive, especially regarding the various groups that have come and gone over the centuries. I highly recommend her if you are looking into your family history and want to know more about the area that they came from. No doubt I will be back some day in the future to do further research and I will not hesitate to utilize Alexandra’s knowledge, expertise, and local connections again when that time comes. Happy travels to you all and I hope you are able to find the family connections you are searching for!

Terrific Family Pilgrimage

We had a wonderful family pilgrimage to Arad, guided by Alex. Her research, knowledge and passion helped us fulfill a decades long bucket list item to return to our great-grandmothers homeland. Our homeland. Thank you Alex for everything!

We were in Timisoara for just 2 days and it was raining constantly. The clouds broke for just the one hour that we were scheduled to do a walking tour with Alexandra. She gave us a beautiful narrative on the history of the city and Romania in general and proceeded to show us the central part of town, including Union Square and Victory Square. Her tour was naturally the highlight of our stay in the city and would highly recommend her as you tour guide and companion to see the city

Best genealogist ever

Alexandra was superb. She researched my grandmothers records before I got there and was able to take me to the rebuilt church where my grandmother was baptized. I got to see the original record in the church’s records. Alex then took me to the village where my great grandmother was born. We talked with villagers and tried to locate descendants. We didn’t find anymore but were able to tour the cemetery where my great grandmother was probably buried.
I have now asked Alex to continue further research trying to find my grandmothers birth certificate.
It was a fantastic day!!!
