Former home of poet, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Steepletop is a restoration in progress. Rumored to close at the end of 2018 for insufficient funds, my guess is that they will find the grants and donations to keep the house museum going indefinitely. Meanwhile, disappointingly,...More

We were drawn to Steepletop because we attended a lecture on Edna St. Vincent Millay at the Jefferson Market Library in Manhattan. We did not know Millay had a home in Austerlitz, NY, and were only familiar with her famous "narrow house" in Greenwich Village,...More

Her home was an old farmhouse and she lived in her own style. This Jazz-Age poet could be quietly introspective or wild entertaining but always gave a good show. The grounds are well maintained and gardens are being restored constantly. This off-the-beaten-path tour shows the...More

This is a wonderful house kept wonderfully preserved from the time Miss Millay was there. Our tour guide and docent, Carol, did a wonderful job of bringing Miss Millay and her husband Eugen to life. The library is a real treasure to any literary snobs---first...More

The guides know so much and give an excellent tour and even recite a couple of her poems. They keep the tour groups very small so you see and hear everything - and ask questions. The grounds are beautiful. I loved seeing Millay's writing cabin....More

I checked the link to the website that led to the trader information. That is not my link. I didn't enter it. I think it is something Trip Advisor entered. I can't edit it.
