Not good

The choreography is uninspired and dull. The dancers go through the steps mechanically and there's just no inspiration. Some seem to have had not enough practice; one of the male dancers almost fell over as he tried to recover a poorly executed jump. As the reviewer above noted there are a lot of local kids who participate. This might not be a problem except that they are poorly trained for this ballet. They constantly dance out of time and look at each other for cues b/c they don't know what comes next. For me this was really distracting and also detracted from the main performers. Some are just too young for the stage and have been included for the "cute factor" (it ain't cute at 75 bucks a ticket, folks) or because their parents are paying lots of dough for the privilege. Anyway, the whole thing is cheesy to an extreme and just a drag to watch. I kept looking at my watch just wishing it would end.

Dear Sir, Thank you for your review. But are you sure you have visited our show? There are some people who are working under our name in USA time to time. We are Moscow city ballet & working in Moscow & don't have tickets more expensive than 50$. What performance have you visited and when?

Ballet "Kostroma"
Jun 2014 • Couples
Although named ballet Kostroma, this is more a sampling of dance from the different areas of Russia over the generations. We were very lucky in that this show only opened at the Cosmos Hotel and complex when we arrived in Moscow in June 2014. Definitely worth a visit since no one could fail to be impressed by the cossack style dances.

Thoroughly enjoyed

Took my daughter to see this Ballet at Raritan Valley Community College and I really enjoyed it. I was expecting much worse based on the reviews. I would go and see it again next year if given the chance.

Dear P Lloyd L! I am sorry to tell you that “Moscow Ballet "The Nutcracker" West Cast” has nothing to do with real Theatre Ballet Moscow which you can find here http://baletmoskva.ru/about-theatre?lang=en. Our company didn't tour in the USA in 2013. In 2012 the art director of the company Nickolay Basin was fired by Moscow Cultural Department and since that time the theatre has changed a lot. We do not tour abroad at the moment becouse we change the repertoire and perform now mainly in Moscow.

Moscow Ballet "The Nutcracker" West Cast
Nov 2013 • Family
The Moscow ballet. The best, right? NOT. First off, THE MUSIC WAS CANNED! ! ! No live orchestra! ! ! One of the most beautiful pieces of music in history and we get to listen to a CD. Then the usher informed us they were low on programs and the 3 of us would have to share one. Not really a problem because the program was pretty much useless. No list of musical movements or scenes. Mainly advertising their merchandise. The 13 principal dancers were very good, not excellent as I would expect a Russian ballet troupe to be but good. The rest of the corpe was sad, often unprepared, out of sync, just making the moves and often not well. The Nutcracker WAS A STUFFED TOY?!?!?! Seriously? Drosellmeyer did a poor job of getting hidden characters on and off stage. And THE ENTIRE PRODUCTION WAS FULL OF LOCAL CHILDREN, probably from area dance studios. It was a fiasco! If I wanted to see amateur dancers, I'd go to a local dance recital. They were poorly rehearsed and made the production seem cheap and second rate, which, it really was!.
I paid over $100 per ticket for 3 of us, after Ticketmaster's ridiculous fees, and we would have been overpaying if all three of us had gone for $100 total. This was my first Nutcracker ballet and I had been looking forward to it so very much. The Moscow Ballet. How could I go wrong? Well it did. And it ended up being a complete disappointment. It's no wonder half of the seats downstairs were empty. Others must have heard about this troupe's performances in advance. Don't waste your time or money.
