Theatre «Tenj», the word «tenj» on Russian means shadow, was established in Moscow in 1988 by a family couple- Maya Krasnopolskaya and Ilya Epelbaum. It was the first Russian family theatre. Just from the beginning the theatre started to realize the most unusual and unexpected theatrical and artist ideas. You can see some puppets and shadow performances in Tenj, but it should be emphasized that there is no strict genre frames in Tenj theatre. In performances are widely used techniques and various genres of theater (shadow, opera, ballet and even mysterial), and other types of art (visual, film, etc.). Each new performance is not similar to the previous one.Theatre «Tenj» have received 9 "Golden Mask" (main theater award in Russia). Theatre «Tenj» regularly takes part in more than 30 international festivals, it is involved in projects with the Ministry of Culture of Russia, devoted to the culture of different countries (the "Year of Culture of France in Russia" and "Year of German Culture in Russia", etc.). Under this program Theatre went to China, France, Germany, India, Korea, Turkey and other countries.

Staying in Maryina Roshcha (Jewish Quarter)

Neighbourhood Profile
Maryina Roshcha (Jewish Quarter)
It’s impossible to visit the Jewish Quarter and not go to the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center – all roads lead here. After visiting the most innovative museum in Russia, cross the street to taste some delicious kosher food. When you’ve tried the best hummus in Moscow, explore early Soviet architecture by going to the Theater of the Russian army and take a rest in Ekaterininsky Park where boats and ducks keep everyone company.
