An amazing collection of every late 19th / 20th century russian artist you can think of - the black square of Malevich of course but also an amazing realistic portrait of his sister, Kandinsky, lots of revolutionary art (think the 2017 RA exhibition but bigger)...More

Best gallery that you can find in Moscow. Kandinsky, Chagall, Malevich, other great painters. Nice park around with Soviet era statues. Gorky Park across the street - just walk along the river.

Our hotel's front desk secured us a cab to the gallery on the edge of Gorky Park. Done in brutalist style, the cement-grey building wouldn’t win any architectural awards, but it did provide plenty of natural light for thee works inside. To my surprise, these...More

Astonishingly good. As in good enough to return to Moscow just to do it again. Better than the excellent ‘parent’ Tretyakov down the road (which is also more crowded). Full of brilliant stuff (including Soviet-era 'official art') by uber-talented dudes you’ve never heard of -...More

Contemporary and modern art and not what you would expect in Moscow. After having done the Kremlin, the Armoury and the Diamond Fund this is exactly what the doctor ordered. I particularly enjoyed reading about the pieces, the artists and the years in which these...More

If you have time to visit only one museum in Moscow I would recommend you New Tretyakov Gallery. It is very interesting and unexpected, easy to walk around and you will have the chance to watch a variety of Russian art.

Yakimanka acts as Moscow’s evergreen lungs with prime
beaches on the Moscow river. All the benefits of
visiting and living in Yakimanka are gathered at the
Moscow river embankment – three parks: Gorky, Muzeon
and Neskuchny garden shape this green stripe with
museums showing the hippest contemporary art. The area
is full of activities for your eyes (museums), mouth
(restaurants) and feet (sport and dance-wise). Access
