Great museum. Decided to visit it on a weekday so there'd be a smaller crowd. I liked how well the exhibit was presented. Indeed, it will be interesting not only for adults but also for the younger generation. Very kind staff, ready to answer any questions.

Top of the art museum if you like Russian art. Cheap. Nice tour guides. Always 2-3 interesting exhibitions going. Use the metro, 8 minutes walk! Beautiful environment!

I should start out by clarifying that a good deal of the pictures and reviews for this museum are for the wrong site. This is the State A.S. Pushkin Museum dedicated to the work and times of the much loved Russian Poet Alexander Pushkin. It is being confused with the nearby Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, which is unconnected with Pushkin's literary works.

The State A.S. Pushkin Museum presents much information about the life and work of Pushkin. He is considered one of the greatest Russian poets and authors. The museum also shows what life was like in Russian in the 19th century in the end of the Imperial period of Russia. The museum captures what Russia was like for the upper classes preceding the Bolshevik revolution that ended Imperial rule.

The Museum is rightly ranked as one of the best experiences in Moscow. An audio guide is available in English, and is more than adequate for a very enjoyable visit. Many of the items are also captioned in English, but significantly more translations are only available with the audio guide. The museum not only presents literary objects, but period objects, furniture, and costumers of the late Imperial period to give the visitor a feel for the times. The backdrop for these artifacts is a beautifully restored former palace where Pushkin's leading cultural contemporaries were frequently invited.

I visited Pushkin house in SPB and expected to see something from his life etc and was slightly disappointed since many things in this museum have absolutely nothing to do with Pushkin and his life.

NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts
Many people in reviews think that "Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts" and "Alexander Pushkin State Museum" are the same - NO. Different museums.

"Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts" is kind of TRETYAKOVKA and "Alexander Pushkin State Museum" meant to be about Pushkin's life - sadly 90% - just different staff from his era etc.

The museum is full of old artifacts and copies of the actual size of Greek and Roman statues. It is a very impressive vision and experience. Make sure you visit.

As a child and young adult I visited this museum regularly, enjoying amazing collections of art. Last visit was dreadful! Museum was 90% closed for visitors however ticket price was just the same. Asked attendant some questions and was rude and abusive to. Lack of information make going very difficult. Not sure if I would recommend

Сonnoisseurs of world art - you must visit this museum.
In it you can get acquainted with all periods of creative humanity. Starting from the ancient Egyptian to contemporary art. For myself I especially single out the halls dedicated to the art of ancient Greece and Rome.
